Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis puisi. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh kesulitan yang dialami siswa pada saat menemukan inspirasi, sulit berimajinasi, dan pemilihan kata. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) bagaimana kemampuan menulis puisi siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebelum perlakuan?; (2) bagaimana kemampuan menulis puisi siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol setelah perlakuan?; (3) apakah terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan menulis puisi siswa antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol? Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas penggunaan media buku harian dalam pembelajaran, serta memaparkan peningkatan keterampilan menulis puisi siswa dengan menggunakan media buku harian. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen kuasi terhadap siswa kelas X MIA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Pariangan sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 31 orang dan kelas X MIA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 31 orang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar perbedaan dalam peningkatan keterampilan menulis puisi antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah hasil hasil dari aktivitas pembelajaran yang berupa nilai siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan, hasil karya puisi siswa, dan angket. Penelitian yang dilaksanakan dapat dikatakan berhasil, terlihat dari peningkatan nilai siswa sebelum dan sesudah dilakukannya perlakuan dengan perbandingan yang cukup signifkan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dari data yang diperoleh oleh peneliti nilai rata-rata prates di kelas eksperimen adalah 49,61 dan nilai rata-rata pascatesnya adalah 78,68, sedangkan nilai rata-rata prates dari kelas kontrol adalah 48,45 dan nila rata-rata pascatesnya adalah 62,87. Nilai rata-rata prates dikelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol mengalami peningkatan, tetapi kenaikan nilai rata-rata pascates yang dimiliki oleh kelas eksperimen lebih signifikan dibandingkan di kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, peniliti menyimpulkan bahwa media buku harian efektif dan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis puisi pada siswa. It was caused by the difficulties experienced by students when they finding inspirations, difficulty imagining, and choosing words. The formulation of the research was: (1) how was students’ ability to write poerty in this experimental class and control class before the treatment?; (2) how was students’ ability to write poerty in this experimental class and control class after the treatment?; (3) is there a significant difference in students’ ability to write poetry in experimental class and control class? Therefore, the aim of this study was to know the electiveness of using diary media in learning, also to describe the improvement of students’ ability in writing poetry by using diary media. This research was a quasi-experimental research of Senior High School 1 Pariangan students class X Science 1, as experimental class with a total 31 students, and students class X Science 2 as control class with a total 31 students. The purpose of this research was to know how much difference in imporving students’ ability in writing poetry between experimental class and control class. The data source of this reseacrh was the result of learning activities in form a students’ score before and after the treatment, the students’ poetry, and questionnaires. This reseach can be said to be successful, it can be seen from the increase in students’ scores before and after the treatment with a significant comparison between the experimental class and control class. From the data obtained by the researcher, the pre-test average score in experimental class was 49,61 and the post-test mean score was 78,68, while the pre-test average score in control class was 48,45 and the post-test mean score was 62,87. The pre-test average score in experimental class and control class has increased, but the increasein the post-test average score that owned by the experimental calss is more significant than in the control class. Based on the result of thi study, the researcher concluded that diary media was effective and improve students’ ability in writing poetry. Keywords: diary media, quasi experimental, writing poetry
