Abstract

The implementation of the School Integrated Development (SID) in the VHS is quite ideal. But much of its success depends on the activity in the VHS itself, especially on the leadership style being followed. The leadership, therefore, should be developed and coordi nated to maxi mi ze the who!e potency of educational resource in the VHS, so that they are able to develop themselves in positive interaction with surroundings. Such leadership style is called intrapreneurship leadership and becomes the key of success of the VHS principal's leadership in bridging the gap between the VHS and rapid progress of science and technology in business and industrial world.The present research uses the qualitative method with the naturalistic inquiry approach. The conclusion is as follows. The implementation of the SID in the VHS in Kotamadya Bandung demonstrates the leadership style that tends to the authoritarian style that does not represent the SID intrapreneurship leadership characters. The intrapreneurship leadership characters include : skillfull in technic, social, conceptual, and managerial fields; working hard to achieve the objective, highly-motivated, having future-oriented vision, inovated, creative, adaptive, working sistematically, responsible, highly-diciplin-ed, self-confident, and willing to satisfy people; ready to take risk with careful anticipation and learn from past mistakes; being negotiator; having business intuition; having intrapreneurship background family, and technical educational background. This conclusion is shows 21 character!stics of intrapreneurshi p leadership and as an expansion of Kao's i nventi on.Performance achieved through the authoritarian leadership style is categorized as marginal because it has not been fully supported by the condusive organizational context in carrying out the idealistic SID policy. If the VHS principal has not exhibit the 21 characteristics of intrapreneurship leadership, the self-development in the process making decisions in curriculum is difficult to establish. In increasing the vocational education quality, the development of the 1eadershi p quality requi res electi ng and appointing systems of VHS principals who demonstrate intrapreneurship capability besides other preconditions as stipulated by the decision of the Minister of Education and Culture. Therefore, the training and coaching materials for the candidates of VHS principals should include intrapreneurship leadership concept based on belief and piety, and science, technology, and art as one of its main subject matters.
