Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh semakin banyaknya penelitian pada bidang perpustakaan dan sains informasi berdampak pada perkembangan keilmuan yang semakin beragam dan lebih kompleks. Namun hal tersebut tidak sebanding dengan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa dalam penulisan skripsi. Masih ada mahasiswa yang kesulitan menentukan topik penelitian dan tidak sedikit mahasiswa memilih topik yang sudah banyak dikaji sebelumnya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kecenderungan penelitian berdasarkan topik dan metode penelitian yang banyak diimplementasikan pada skripsi mahasiswa Perpustakaan dan Sains Informasi. Metode yang digunakaan yaitu metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan dianalisis menggunakan metode bibliometrik dengan jenis co-words. Dalam menganalisis data digunakan Bibliometrix R package untuk mempermudah dalam mementukan tren dan pemetaan topik penelitian. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel 652 skripsi yang diperoleh dari repository tiga perguruan tinggi, yaitu UNAIR, UPI, dan UIN Syarif Hidayatullah periode 2017-2019. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa topik yang paling banyak diteliti oleh mahasiswa program studi Perpustakaan dan Sains Informasi adalah perpustakaan perguruan tinggi, pencarian informasi, kebutuhan informasi. Hal tersebut menunjukan bahwa mahasiswa lebih mudah mencari permasalahan dilingkungan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi. Sedangkan metode penelitian yang banyak digunakan oleh mahasiswa adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini berguna untuk mengarahkan mahasiswa dalam menentukan topik penelitian agar lebih berinovasi dan terbaru sesuai dengan urgensi atau keadaan yang sedang terjadi. This research was conducted on the fact that the recent trend of library and science information researches that keeps getting varied and more complex. But all of that doesn’t compare to the thesis research that is being written by a college student. There’s still students that is having a hard time deciding on a topic and not a few student chose a topic that has been studied before. The objective of this research is to identify research trends based on a research topic and method which is widely implemented on Library and science information students’ thesis. The method used for the research is descriptive method with quantitative approach and analyzed using bibliometric method using co-words type. Data is Analyzed using Bibliometrix R Package to simplify the process of determining the trend and topic mapping of researches. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 652 thesis obtained from the repository of three universities, namely UNAIR, UPI, and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah from 2017-2019 period. Based on the results of the study showed that the topics most researched by students of the Library and Information Science study program were university libraries, information seeking, information needs. This shows that students find it easier to find problems in the college library environment. While the research method that is mostly used by students is a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The results of this study are useful for directing students in determining research topics to be more innovative and up-to-date according to the urgency or circumstances that are happening.
