Abstract

Bersama dengan perkembangan yang telah dicapai, peran Indonesia dalam pergaulan antarbangsa telah menempatkan bahasa Indonesia sebagai salah satu bahasa yang dipandang penting di dunia. Menurut Badan Pengembangan Bahasa dan Perbukuan, saat ini pengajaran BIPA telah dilakukan sekitar 36 negara di dunia dengan jumlah lembaga sekitar 130 buah. Pada proses pembelajaran, pemelajar BIPA yang telah menguasai bahasa pertama dan budaya yang berbeda dengan bahasa Indonesia memiliki karakteristik tertentu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan karakteristik tuturan bahasa Indonesia pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang berdasarkan huruf vokal dan konsonan, kendala pengucapan bunyi-bunyi bahasa Indonesia, dan rancangan pembelajaran pelafalan berdasarkan hasil kajian tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah pengajar BIPA, Pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang, dan penutur asli Jepang yang tertarik dengan Bahasa Indonesia. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan beberapa teknik, yaitu teknik observasi, wawancara, dan rekam catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang memiliki karakteristik pada pelafalan vokal berupa perubahan pelafalan vokal [u], [é], dan [ə]. Selain itu, karakteristik tuturan pada kategori vokal juga ditemui berupa penambahan bunyi vokal [Ɯ] pada kosakata yang mengandung deretan konsonan atau kluster. Karakteristik pelafalan konsonan pada pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang berupa perubahan pelafalan konsonan [l], [r], [n], dan [v]. Selain itu, karakteristik tuturan pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang juga ditemukan berupa penambahan bunyi konsonan [g] pada kosakata yang memiliki bunyi [ɳ] di tengah. Kendala pelafalan bunyi-bunyi bahasa Indonesia pada pemelajar BIPA asal Jepang meliputi bahasa pertama yang dominan, sistem fonologi yang berbeda, dan kurangnya frekuensi praktik bahasa Indonesia. According to Badan Pengembangan Bahasa dan Perbukuan, currently teaching BIPA has been carried out in around 36 countries in the world with around 130 institutions. In the learning process, BIPA students who have mastered a first language and a culture that is different from Indonesian have certain characteristics. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics of the Indonesian language spoken by BIPA students from Japan based on vowels and consonants, the problems with the pronunciation of Indonesian sounds, and the pronunciation learning design based on the study results. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods to achieve the research purposes. Sources of data in this research are BIPA teachers, Japanese BIPA students, and native Japanese speakers who are interested in Indonesian. In this study, data were collected using several techniques, namely observation, interview, and note-taking techniques. The results showed that BIPA students from Japan have characteristics in vowel pronunciation in the form of changes in the pronunciation of [u], [ə], and [ə]. Furthermore, the characteristics of speech in the vowel category are also found in the form of the vowel sound addition [Ɯ] in vocabularies that contain a series of consonants or clusters. The characteristics of the consonants pronunciation in BIPA students from Japan are in the form of the consonants pronunciation changes [l], [r], [n], and [v]. The characteristics of the speech of BIPA students from Japan were also found in the form of consonant sound addition [g] to the vocabulary that has a sound [ɳ] in the middle. Constraints on pronouncing Indonesian sounds for BIPA students from Japan include the dominant first language, different phonological systems, and the lack of frequency of Indonesian practice. The concept of pronunciation training for BIPA students include (1) basic training (2) intermediate training, and (3) communicative training.
