Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pengaruh problem based learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Pengaruh (Effect Size) pada penelitian-penelitian yang menerapkan problem based learning (PBL) dianalisis dengan teknik meta analisis. Data empiris diperoleh dengan menggunakan mesin pencari elektronik seperti Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, ERIC, SINTA dan URL jurnal nasional, dan instrumen yang digunakan adalah dalam bentuk pengkodean (coding). Analisis data dilakukan dengan bantuan perangkat lunak Comprehensive Meta-Analysis V.03. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah sistematik review terhadap analisis hasil penelitian ilmiah pada e-jurnal nasional di Indonesia dengan sampel penelitian sebanyak 16 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Penelitian meta analisis menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan pengaruh penerapan problem based learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa memperoleh kategori efek tinggi. Selain itu, effect size penerapan PBL terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa berdasarkan karakteristik jenjang pendidikan lebih efektif digunakan pada siswa di jenjang pendidikan Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) daripada siswa di jenjang pendidikan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA). Berdasarkan karakteristik kelas studi lebih efektif digunakan pada siswa kelas XI daripada kelas lainnya. Berdasarkan karakteristik tahun studi lebih signifikan effect size pada tahun 2017-2019 daripada tahun 2014-2016. Berdasarkan karakteristik ukuran sampel lebih efektif digunakan pada ukuran sampel yang kurang dari 30 siswa. Berdasarkan karakteristik durasi pembelajaran lebih efektif digunakan pada durasi pembelajaran 2-4 pertemuan. Temuan lain adalah bahwa memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dalam effect size antara kelompok studi berdasarkan pada durasi pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, PBL sangat berguna dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa berdasarkan karakteristik durasi pembelajaran. This study aims at analysing the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on students’ mathematical problem solving skills. The Effect Size in several research which applied PBL was examined using the meta-analysis technique. Empirical data were obtained using electronic search engines including Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, ERIC, SINTA, SPRINGER, and national journals URL; and coding was used as the instrument. Data analysis was conducted using the meta-analysis software namely Comprehensive V.03. The method included systematic reviews on research findings in Indonesia’s national e-journals, with 16 articles meeting the inclusion criteria selected as the sample. The the meta-analysis study reveals that the overall effect of the implementing of PBL on students' mathematical problem solving skills had a high category of effect. Moreover, the effect size of implementing PBL on students’ mathematical problem solving skills based on the educational level characteristic is more effectively applied on students in junior high school than those in senior high school. Based on the grade, it is most effectively used on grade XI students. Based on the school year, the effect size is more significant in 2017-2019 than in 2014-2016. Based on the sample size, it is more effectively used on groups of less than 30 students. Based on the duration of learning, it is more effectively used in a learning of 2–4 meetings. Also, the duration of learning has significant effect size among the learning groups. Thus, PBL is highly useful in improving students’ mathematical problem solving skills based on the duration of learning.
