Abstract

ABSTRAK Penggunaan media pembelajaran bersifat low-cost dinilai perlu untuk mengembangkan pemahaman siswa dan guru terhadap media yang bersifat lebih sederhana dan mudah digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana penggunaan serta kebermanfaatan media low-cost laboratory kit di sekolah menengah kejuruan dan seberapa jauh perbedaan biaya yang dikeluarkan dibanding alat komersil serupa sebagai media pembelajaran. Data bersumber dari guru dan siswa dengan melakukan survey langsung ke sekolah menengah kejuruan serta wawancara terhadap siswa melalui platform google form. Informan dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling setelah melihat apakah informan telah menggunakan low-cost laboratory kit sebelumya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media low-cost laboratory kit telah digunakan sejak 20 tahun yang lalu di sekolah-sekolah menengah kejuruan. Hasil lain juga menunjukkan bahwa biaya yang dikeluarkan untuk membuat atau mengembangkan media low-cost laboratory kit ini dapat menghemat hingga mencapai 80% dibandingkan alat komersil serupa untuk media pembelajaran. Siswa juga menyatakan bahwa Media low-cost laboratory kit bermanfaat dalam membatu siswa memahami serta meningkatkan kreativitas siswa dalam berfikir serta berperan sebagai media pembelajaran yang dapat membantu siswa dalam praktikum sebelum menggunakan media atau alat komersil. Pengembangan serta pemahaman lebih mendalam guru mengenai media low-cost laboratory diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kreativitas guru dalam mengembangkan media low-cost lainya. Kata kunci: low-cost laboratory kit, media pembelajaran, kebermanfaatan   ABSTRACT The use of low-cost instructional media is considered necessary to develop students 'and teachers' understanding of media that are simpler and easier to use. This study aims to see how the use and usefulness of the low-cost laboratory kit media in vocational high schools and how much difference the costs incurred are compared to similar commercial tools as learning media. Data sourced from teachers and students by conducting direct surveys to vocational high schools and interviews with students through the google form platform. Informants were selected using purposive sampling technique after seeing whether the informants had used the low-cost laboratory kit before. The results showed that the media low-cost laboratory kit has been used since 20 years ago in vocational high schools. Other results also show that the costs incurred to create or develop this low-cost laboratory kit can save up to 80% compared to similar commercial tools for learning media. Students also stated that the media low-cost laboratory kit was useful in helping students understand and increase students' creativity in thinking and acting as a learning medium that could help students in practicum before using commercial media or tools. The development and deeper understanding of teachers about low-cost laboratory media are expected to be able to increase teacher creativity in developing other low-cost media.
