Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun bahan ajar reaksi redoks untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis menggunakan metode four steps teaching material development (4S TMD). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Development Research (DR) yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu design, development, dan evaluation. Pada tahap design dibuat rancangan pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam bahan ajar. Pada tahap development dikembangkan bahan ajar menggunakan metode four steps teaching material development (4S TMD) yang meliputi tahap seleksi, strukturisasi, karakterisasi, dan reduksi didaktik. Pada tahap evaluation dilakukan uji keterpahaman siswa terhadap bahan ajar dan uji kelayakan bahan ajar. Hasil dari tahap design adalah diperoleh rancangan bahan ajar. Pada tahap development dilakukan proses seleksi dan diperoleh draf bahan ajar yang telah direview kesesuaian indikator dengan kompetensi dasar, kebenaran konsepnya, dan pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Pada tahap strukturisasi dihasilkan draf bahan ajar hasil penyesuaian dengan peta konsep, struktur makro, dan multipel representasi. Tahap karakterisasi dilakukan untuk menguji tingkat kesulitan draf bahan ajar oleh siswa dengan instrumen penentuan ide pokok. Hasil dari tahap karakterisasi diperoleh dua teks sulit dari 76 teks yang diujikan. Teks yang dikategorikan sulit dilakukan reduksi didaktik dengan jenis reduksi didaktik yaitu penjelasan dengan gambar dan pengabaian. Hasil dari tahap evaluation yaitu diperoleh bahan ajar yang memiliki kategori keterpahaman tinggi dengan kategori mandiri dan kelayakan dengan kategori sangat layak. ABSTRACT This study aims to produce a redox reaction teaching materials to develop critical thinking skills using four steps teaching material development (4S TMD) method. The method used in this research is Development Research (DR) which consist of three stages; design, development, and evaluation. At the design stage, a design for developing critical thinking skills in teaching material is made. At the development stage, teaching materials were developed using four steps teaching material development (4S TMD) method, which consist of selection, structuring, characterization, and didactic reduction steps. At the evaluaton stage, student’s comprehensibility and feasibility of the teaching material are tested. The result of design stage is the design of the teaching materials. At the development stage, a selection process is carried out and produce a draft of teaching materials that has been reviewed for the suitability of indicators with basic competencies, the correctness of the concept, and the development of critical thinking skills. At the structuring stage, draft of teaching materials was produced with a concept maps, macro structures, and multiple representations. The characterization stage was carried out to test the teaching materials by the students with the instrument of determining the main idea. The results of the characterization stage obtained two difficult texts from the 76 tested texts. Texts categorized as difficult to do the didactic reduction with the didactic reduction type; explanation with pictures and neglected. The result of the evaluation stage is that teaching materials have a high category of understanding aspects with the independent category and the feasibility of being very feasible.
