Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah permasalahan membaca yang ditemukan pada siswa kelas IVA di SDN Sarimulya III. Faktor penyebab permasalahan tersebut adalah penggunaan bahan ajar yang tidak sesuai dengan karakteristik dan kebutuhan siswa kelas IV. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IVA di SDN Sarimulya III dan untuk mengetahui alternatif bahan ajar membaca pemahaman berdasarkan hasil analisis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analisis dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 38 siswa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dari 38 siswa yang mengikuti tes sebanyak 20 orang siswa (52.63%) termasuk kedalam kategori kurang, 17 orang siswa (44.73%) termasuk kedalam kategori cukup, dan hanya 1 orang siswa (2.63%) termasuk dalam kategori baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas IVA di SDN Sarimulya III kurang, karena nilai rerata berada dibawah standar KKM yang ditetapkan sebesar 70. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian upaya-upaya yang dilakukan guru untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa khususnya dalam mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia sangat perlu diperhatikan lebih lanjut. The background of this research is the reading problems found in grade IVA students at SDN Sarimulya III. The factor that causes this problem is the use of teaching materials that are not in accordance with the characteristics and needs of grade IV students. The purpose of this study was to describe the reading comprehension ability of grade IVA students at SDN Sarimulya III and to find out alternative teaching materials for reading comprehension based on the results of the analysis. The research method used is descriptive analysis using a qualitative approach. The research subjects were 38 students. The results of this study indicate that of the 38 students who took the test as many as 20 students (52.63%) were in the poor category, 17 students (44.73%) were in the sufficient category, and only 1 student (2.63%) was in the good category. Based on these results, the researcher concluded that the reading comprehension ability of grade IVA students at SDN Sarimulya III was lacking, because the average value was below the KKM standard set at 70.Based on the results of the study the efforts made by the teacher to improve students' reading comprehension skills, especially in language subjects. Indonesia really needs further attention.
