Abstract

Sina Ramdhani, 1601392. Peningkatan Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep dan Mood Siswa SMP melalui Model Pembelajaran MURDER (Mood, Understand, Recall, Digest, Expand, Review) Skripsi ini merupakan hasil penelitian tentang peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan mood siswa SMP melalui model pembelajaran MURDER. Kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan mood siswa perlu ditingkatkan guna mendapatkan pembelajaran bermakna dan berkualitas Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran MURDER apakah lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran discovery learning, 2) Pencapaian mood siswa siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran MURDER apakah lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran discovery learning. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian non-equivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 60 Kota Bandung. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas yaitu kelas VII B sebagai kelas eksperimen (MURDER) dan kelas VII A sebagai kelas kontrol (discovery) dengan masing-masing kelas terdiri atas 32 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan instrumen non-tes berupa angket mood siswa. Berdasarkan analisis data diperoleh bahwa: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran MURDER lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran discovery learning, 2) Pencapaian mood siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran MURDER tidak lebih baik secara signifikan daripada siswa yang memperoleh model pembelajaran discovery learning. The Enhancement of Junior High School Student’s Mathematical Conceptual Understanding and Mood through MURDER (Mood, Understand, Recall, Digest, Expand, Review) This paper showed the result of study on enhancing the ability of conceptual understanding and mood of junior high school students through the MURDER learning model. The ability to understand the concept and to stimulate good moods of students is essential to get meaningful and quality learning. The first aim of this study was to analyze whether the enhancement of the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who obtain MURDER learning models is higher than students who obtain discovery learning models. The second aim was whether the ahievement of the students' mood who obtain the MURDER learning model is greater than students who obtain the discovery learning model. The method of this study was a quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group design. This population is seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 60 Bandung including of two classes of sample, namely class VII B as an experimental class (MURDER) and class VII A as a control class (discovery) with each class consisting of 32 students. The instrument used a test instrument for the ability to understand concepts and non-test instruments, in the form of a students’ mood questionnaire. Based on data analysis, study found that: 1) Enhancement of mathematical concept understanding ability of students who obtain MURDER learning models is significantly higher than students who obtain discovery learning models, 2) Achievement of the mood of students who obtain MURDER learning models is not significantly greater than students who obtain discovery learning model.
