Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kegiatan bernyanyi pada siswa down syndrome di SLB-C YKB Garut. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya indikasi peningkatan pelafalan kata dan kemampuan bersosialisasi pada siswa down syndrome melalui kegiatan bernyanyi. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 5 orang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitiatif. Observasi, wawancara, analisis dokumen, dan studi literatur dilakukan sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Pada penelitian ini, observasi dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali. Kemudian wawancara dilakukan kepada guru-guru SLB-C YKB Garut yang terlibat dalam kegiatan bernyanyi, dan kepada orang tua siswa-siswa yang dijadikan sampel penelitian. Tahapan kegiatan bernyanyi, materi lagu, metode, media, dan respon siswa merupakan hal-hal yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini. Setelah melakukan penelitian, didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa tahapan kegiatan bernyanyi diantaranya persiapan, pelaksanaan kegiatan bernyanyi, dan pengulangan lagu-lagu yang dinyanyikan. Materi lagu yang digunakan yaitu lagu anak-anak yang banyak memiliki interval ters dan sekon. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode imitasi dan drill. Media yang digunakan yaitu alat musik keyboard, mic, dan amplifier. Respon setiap siswa saat kegiatan bernyanyi berlangsung berbeda tergantung kepada usaha guru untuk memotivasi siswa, kemampuan siswa beradaptasi, kebiasaan bernyanyi, dan dukungan orang tua. Kata kunci : kegiatan bernyanyi, down syndrome Abstract This study was aimed to describe singing activity by down-syndrome students in SLB-C YKB Garut. This study was based on the down-syndrome student’s improvement of pronounciation and interaction ability through singing activity. The study took five down-syndrome students as participants. This study used quantitative method. Observation, interview, document analysis, and literature study were employed to collect the data. The observation was conducted four times in which singing activities, songs, methods, medias, and student’s responses were the focus. As follow, interview was administered to teachers of SLB-C YKB Garut who get involved in the singing activity and also the parents of the participants. According to the findings obtained, it can be concluded that there were some stages done during the singing activity including preparation, singing and drilling. The song’s type used was kid’s songs which have interval ters and second. The methodology used in the singing activity was imitation and drilling. In addition, keyboard, microphone, and amplifier ware used as media. As the result, the student’s responses during the singing activity were different depend on several things that include the teachers’ effort to motivate the students, the student’s ability to adapt, singing habit, and parent’s supports.
