Abstract

Nowadays, podcast is a fascinating technology starting to be used for language education. The effectiveness of podcast for improving listening comprehension has been proven in some previous studies. However, besides effectiveness, learners’ acceptance of the use of podcast also needs to be considered. Therefore, this study investigates the perception of language learners on the use of podcasting to develop listening skill in an EFL classroom. A class of vocational high school students majoring in Office Administration participated in this study. Questionnaires, interviews with the learners and teacher and observations were employed to gather the data of this study. The findings showed a positive perception on using podcast for listening skill. The majority of the participants agreed that the use of podcast was enjoyable to help them improve listening skill, correct their pronunciation and enrich their vocabulary, idiom, and terms related to their vocation. Furthermore, the implementation of the podcast covered three activities in the teaching and learning process, namely pre-listening, whilst listening and post-listening. Hence, the implementation of podcast engages and integrates the four language skills as reflected in Curriculum 2013.;
