Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena mengenai interaksi sosial teman sebaya di sekolah. Penelitia bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai kemampuan interaksi sosial siswa serta mendeskripsikan menggunakan kode analisis wacana lisan SYMLOG. Penelitian interaksi sosial merupakan kajian wacana yang mengambil lokasi penelitian di SMP Negeri 15 Bandung. Data pada penelitian berupa interaksi sosial siswa pada kelompok kecil yang diperoleh melalui penelitian kepustakaan dan penelitian lapangan. Adapun, metode SYMLOG merupakan metode berupa wacana lisan yang dikemukakan oleh Robert Bales. Pada penelitian interaksi sosial, peneliti menggunakan penggabungan antara metode kuantitatif dan kualitatif atau disebut dengan mix method. Metode yang lebih dominan adalah metode kualitatif sedangkan metode pelengkap adalah metode kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan interaksi sosial siswa SMP Negeri 15 Bandung cukup baik, tetapi ada beberapa siswa yang tergolong rendah pada kemampuan interaksi sosial di kelas maupun di luar kelas, terlihat ketika ada siswa yang masih bersikap tidak sopan saat berbicara baik kepada teman maupun guru, bersikap acuh, menyendiri,dominan diantara teman sebaya, serta masih terlihat siswa yang membentuk suatu kelompok-kelompok kecil yang hanya diikuti sesuai dengan latar belakang yang sama. Penelitian interaksi sosial diharapkan membantu siswa dan pendidik untuk mengatasi kendala perihal kemampuan interaksi sosial. This study is motivated by the phenomenon of peer social interaction in school. This study aims to obtain an overview of the students’ social interaction ability as well as to describe using the SYMLOG oral discourse analysis code. This study is a discourse study that took SMP Negeri 15 Bandung as the research location. The data in this study are in the form of students’ social interaction in small groups and are obtained through literary and field research. As for SYMLOG method, it is a method in a form of oral discourse proposed by Robert Bales. In this study, the writer uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods or commonly called a Mix Method. However, a qualitative method is more prominent in this study while a quantitative is more as a complementary method. The result shows that the social interaction ability of students of SMP Negeri 15 Bandung was quite good. Meanwhile, there were some students who were classified as low in the social interaction ability inside and outside the classroom. This can be seen from the presence of students who still behave disrespectfully when it comes to speaking with friends and teachers, being indifferent, and being secluded. There are also those who were dominant among their peers and those who made other small inner groups which are only for those with similar backgrounds. This study is expected to help students and educators in overcoming difficulties regarding social interaction ability.
