Abstract

Kontrol diri dapat diartikan sebagai kemampuan individu dalam mengatur, menyusun, membimbing, dan mengendalikan dorongan-dorongan atau impuls negatif sehingga individu dapat mengendalikan diri mereka untuk mendapatkan hidup yang lebih positif dan produktif. Kontrol diri memiliki dampak yang besar karena proses kontrol diri adalah tingkah laku yang sangat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup individu. Kurangnya kontrol diri dapat menyebabkan beberapa isu, salah satu di antaranya adalah celebrity worship yang merupakan sebuah fenomena di mana seseorang memiliki obsesi berlebih terhadap selebriti idolanya. Celebrity worship adalah bentuk kelekatan psikologis yang intens yang membuat hubungan seseorang dengan selebriti idola mereka menjadi fokus utama dalam hidup mereka yang diakibatkan oleh kecintaan individu terhadap persona yang dimiliki oleh selebriti idola mereka, membuat mereka memiliki loyalitas dan kerelaan untuk menginvestasikan waktu dan uang terhadap selebriti tersebut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kontrol diri dengan celebrity worship. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 200 peserta didik kelas XI SMA Laboratorium UPI Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara kontrol diri dengan celebrity worship dan fenomena celebrity worship dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor lainnya misalnya usia dan budaya. Kata Kunci: kontrol diri, celebrity worship, usia, budaya Self control can be interpreted as the ability of individuals to regulate, arrange, guide, and control negative impulses or impulses so that individuals can control themselves to get a more positive and productive life. Self control has a big impact because the process of self control is a behavior that greatly affects the quality of life of individuals. Lack of self-control can cause several issues, one of them is celebrity worship which is a phenomenon in which a person has an obsession with his idol celebrity. Celebrity worship is a form of intense psychological attachment that makes a person's relationship with their idol celebrity a major focus in their lives due to the love of individuals for the persona that their idol celebrities have, giving them the loyalty and willingness to invest time and money on celebrities . This research was conducted to determine the relationship between self-control and celebrity worship. In this study, a quantitative approach with the correlational method was used. Respondents in this study were 200 grade XI students of UPI Laboratory High School Academic Year 2019/2020 . The results showed that there was no relationship between self control and celebrity worship and the phenomenon of celebrity worship could be influenced by other factors such as age and culture.
