Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman materi pembiasan cahaya dan attitude towards science, antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran IPA dengan model ILD berbantuan science magic dengan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model ILD tanpa berbantuan science magic. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experiment dengan Pretest–Postest Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII MTsN 1 Kota Banda Aceh. Sampel dipilih secara random sampling dengan sampel sebanyak dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen (N=36) dan kelas kontrol (N=36). Instrumen pada penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes berbentuk pilihan ganda untuk mengukur pemahaman materi pembiasan cahaya dan skala attitude towards science. Untuk menentukan peningkatan pemahaman materi pembiasan cahaya dilakukan perhitungan rata-rata N-Gain, sedangkan untuk menggambarkan profil attitude towards science dilakukan dengan cara menghitung kuantitas siswa yang memberikan tanggapan pada setiap pernyataan yang tercakup dalam skala sikap attitude towards science. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan pemahaman materi pembiasan cahaya antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model ILD berbantuan science magic lebih tinggi dibanding dengan peningkatan siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran model ILD tanpa berbantuan science magic dan peningkatan kuantitas siswa yang menyatakan ketertarikan terhadap IPA, pentingnya IPA dalam kehidupan, minat studi lanjut dalam bidang IPA, dan minat berkarier terkait bidang IPA lebih tinggi di kelas yang diterapkan model pembelajaran ILD berbantuan science magic dibandingkan dengan peningkatan kuantitas siswa di kelas yang diterapkan model pembelajaran ILD tanpa berbantuan science magic. Begitu juga dengan penggunaan model pembelajaran ILD berbantuan science magic dalam meningkatkan pemahaman materi pembiasan cahaya dan attitude towards science lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan penggunaan model pembelajaran ILD tanpa berbantuan science magic.;---This research aims to determine improvement understanding of light refraction material and attitude towards science between students who have studied science learning used ILD model assisted science magic with students who have studied science learning used ILD model without assisted science magic. Research method is used quasi experiment and pretest–posttest control group design. Subjects of this research were students of class VIII MTsN 1 at Banda Aceh City. Samples were selected by random sampling with two classes of sample, they are class experiment (N=36) and class control (N=36). The instrument in this research were multiple choice test to measure the understanding of refraction light materials and the attitude towards science scale. To determine the improvement of understanding light refraction material was calculated the average N-Gain while to describe the attitude towards science was calculated the quantity of students’ responses to each statement on attitude towards science scale. the result of this research showed that the improvement of understanding refraction of light material between students who have studied science learning used ILD model assisted science magic was more significantly with students who have studied science learning used ILD model without assisted science magic and improvement of quantity of students who express their interest in science, important of science in life, interest in advanced study in science, and interest in future career in science more significantly at class which is implemented ILD model assisted science magic compared with improvement of quantity of students at class which is implemented ILD model without assisted science magic. Likewise with used ILD model assisted science magic to improve understanding of light refraction and attitude towards science was more effectively compared with used ILD model without assisted science magic.
