Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan penting yang harus dimiliki oleh siswa. Namun, beberapa hasil penelitian terdahulu menemukan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa masih tergolong rendah. Setelah melakukan studi literatur,banyak penelitian yang dilakukan berfokus pada penerapan metode pemebelajaran dan pengembangan bahan ajar untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang tergolong rendah tersebut. Semestinya, sebelum berupaya meningkatkan kemampuan matematis peneliti harus mengetahui akar penyebab rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yaitu error yang dilakukan siswa ketika memecahkan masalah matematis selain itu bagaimana perilaku siwa ketika memecahkan masalah matematis juga berdampak pada kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan siswa menurut Analisis Kesalahan Newman dalam memecahkan masalah turunan fungsi aljabar dan perilaku siswa ketika memecahkan masalah matematis. Penelitian ini merupakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus dan pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemecahan masalah pada turunan fungsi aljabar, skala regulasi diri, skala belief dan wawancara siswa SMA kelas XI di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa melakukan keenam jenis kesalahan dalam memecahkan masalah tentang turunan fungsi aljabar yaitu reading error, comprehension error, transformation error, process skill error, encoding dan corelles error. Dan perilaku siswa yang terlihat ketika memecahkan masalah matematis yaitu siswa hanya melakukan dua sampai tiga tahap heuristik pemecahan masalah menurut Polya, siswa dapat mengontrolan diri ketika memecahkan masalah matematis namun terdapat beberapa siswa tidak yakin terhadap kemampuan yang dimilikinya untuk memecahkan masalah yang diberikan. ;---Mathematical problem solving ability is one of the important skills that should be possessed by students. However, results of several studies found that students’ mathematical problem solving ability was still low. After doing literature study, numerous studies focused on the use particular teaching method and the development of teaching material to improve the low mathematical problem solving ability. Actually, before trying to improve mathematical problem solving ability, researcher should have known the root of the low mathematical problem solving ability, namely the errors done by students during the solving process. Besides, students’ behavior during solving process may also affect students’ mathematical problem solving ability. This study aims to describe students’ error in solving problems of derivatives of algebraic function based on Newman Error Analysis (NEA) and to describe students’ behavior during the solving process. This was a qualitative study with case study design and purposive sampling. Data was collected through problem solving test on the topic of derivative, self-regulation scale, belief scale, and interview upon students of 11th grade in particular school in Bandung. Result showed that students still do six types of error in solving problem about derivatives, i.e. reading error, comprehension error, transformation error, process skill error, encoding and careless error. Students’ behaviors shown during solving process were students only did two or three stages of solving problem heuristic based on Polya, and they showed self-control during mathematical problem solving process yet there were several students who were unsure of their abilities to solve problems.
