Abstract

This advanced CNC course is one of the continuation courses of the basic CNC courses followed by undergraduate mechanical engineering students at the University of Indonesia at the concentration of production and design. Factors of low understanding of students in operating CNC machines such as learning can not take place as it should. The ratio of machines and computers to the number that is not effective is 1: 5-8 students. In addition, there is also a lack of learning resources or learning materials that support and can be studied by students at home (independent study). This study aims to determine the effect of the use of CNC Simulator Pro media on learning outcomes in designing the CNC Frais machine program. This research was conducted because learning in advanced CNC subjects has limited infrastructure, and the CNC milling program is difficult to understand because it has an abstract program language. The research method used was a pre-experimental type of one-group pretest-posttest design. Pretest is done before the sample is treated with the aim to determine the initial ability in designing CNC milling machine program, while the posttest is done after the sample is treated with the aim to find out the learning outcomes in designing a CNC milling machine program. The material is limited to the CNC machine program that is used that is using a CNC milling machine. Essay test in the form of designing a product that uses a CNC milling machine. The results showed that the CNC Simulator Pro media can have a significant influence on learning outcomes in designing a CNC milling machine program, where the value of Asymp.Sig. obtained after the Wilcoxon test has met the conditions of rejection of H0 (null hypothesis) or receipt of HA (alternative hypothesis).
