Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran metode IMPROVE terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis siswa perempuan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) pada pokok bahasan program linear. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen, dengan populasi 4 kelas XI di salah satu SMA Swasta Kabupaten Sukabumi yang terdiri dari 2 kelas laki-laki dan 2 kelas perempuan. Dua kelas perempuan ditetapkan sebagai sampel penelitian. Satu kelas menjadi kelompok eksperimen yang menerima pembelajaran metode IMPROVE, dan satu kelas lainnya menjadi kelompok kontrol yang menerima pembelajaran konvensional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; 1) Pencapaian pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis siswa perempuan yang menerima pembelajaran metode IMPROVE lebih tinggi dari pada siswa perempuan yang menerima pembelajaran konvensional; 2) Peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan komunikasi matematis siswa perempuan yang memperoleh pembelajaran metode IMPROVE lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan siswa perempuan yang memperoleh pembalajaran konvensional; 3) Terdapat korelasi positif antara kemampuan pemahaman dan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran metode IMPROVE. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning the IMPROVE method to improve mathematical understanding and communication skills of female high school (SMA) students on the subject of linear programming. The research method used was quasi-experimental, with a population of 4 classes XI in one of the Private High Schools of Sukabumi Regency consisting of 2 classes of men and 2 classes of women. Two classes of women were assigned as research samples. One class becomes an experimental group that accepts IMPROVE learning methods, and another class becomes a control group that accepts conventional learning. The results showed that; 1) The achievement of mathematical understanding and communication of female students who received IMPROVE method learning was higher than female students who received conventional learning; 2) Increased mathematical understanding and mathematical communication skills of female students who obtained the IMPROVE method of learning were higher than female students who received conventional learning; 3) There is a positive correlation between understanding ability and mathematical communication skills of students who have learned the IMPROVE method.
