Abstract

Dewasa ini, organisasi dengan tim multikultural sudah menjadi tren global. Dalam lingkungan kerja yang beragam, keefektifan tim multikultural merupakan faktor vital dan berkontribusi terhadap keberhasilan organisasi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh antara kompetensi komunikasi antarbudaya anggota Global Volunteer AIESEC Bandung terhadap efektivitas tim multikultural. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Teori Kelompok Kerja Antarbudaya Efektif, di mana keragaman budaya memiliki pengaruh terhadap proses komunikasi dan efektivitas kerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Data dikumpulkan dari 60 anggota dengan alat pengumpulan data yaitu kuesioner. Hipotesis dalam penelitian ini dikonfirmasi dan diukur secara statistik melalui analisis regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi komunikasi antarbudaya yang terdiri dari keterampilan interpersonal, ketidakpastian budaya, dan empati budaya secara simultan berpengaruh positif terhadap efektivitas tim multikultural. Namun secara parsial hanya empati budaya yang berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap efektivitas tim multikultural. Melihat adanya hubungan yang kuat antara kompetensi komunikasi antarbudaya dengan efektivitas tim multikultural, penelitian ini menghasilkan implikasi penting bagi para akademisi dan praktisi yang bekerja dengan tim multikultural;--- Nowadays, organizations with multicultural teams have become global trends. In a diverse work environment, the effectiveness of multicultural teams is a vital factor and contributes to the success of the organization. Therefore, this research attempts to determine whether there is an influence between intercultural communication competencies of Global Volunteer members of AIESEC Bandung on multicultural team effectiveness. Researcher will also verify the Effective Intercultural Workgroup Theory which discusses that cultural diversity affects the communication process and team effectiveness. This research used a quantitative approach with correlational methods. Data was collected from 60 AIESEC Bandung members via questionnaire. The hypothesized relationship between intercultural communication competence and team effectiveness was confirmed and statistically measured through regression analysis. The results showed that intercultural communication competencies consisting of interpersonal skills, cultural uncertainty, and cultural empathy simultaneously had a positive effect on multicultural team effectiveness. But partially, only cultural empathy had a positive and significant effect on multicultural team effectiveness. Given the well-supported relationship between intercultural communication competence, this study produces important implications for scholars and practitioners working with multicultural teams.
