Abstract
Penelitian ini berjudul “Kajian Organologi Alat Musik Tradisional Canang Ceureukeh Di Kota Lhokseumawe Provinsi Aceh”. Canang ceurekeuh merupakan alat musik ritmis dan melodis yang tergolong dalam alat musik tradisional di Lhokseumawe provinsi Aceh, kontruksi fisiknya berupa penopang, bilah dan pemukul yang terbuat dari kayu dan dimainkan dengan cara di pukul dengan alat yang terbuat dari kayu pula. Penelitian ini mengkaji organologi alat musik canang ceureukeh, dengan fokus permasalahan tentang konsep pembuatan, bahan dan proses pembuatan, serta Teknik produksi suara pada alat musik canang ceureukeh. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan Etnomusikologi. Temuan hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan canang ceureukeh masuk dalam klasifikasi idiophone, memiliki empat nada, terdapat konsep yang mendasari bertahannya alat musik canang ceureukeh yang terbagi dalam dua aspek kontekstual berupa fungsi musikal, fungsi di masyarakat, falsafah, dan tekstual berupa bahan dasar, bagian bentuk, cara memainkan. Proses pembuatan alat musik canang ceureukeh melalui tahapan pemilihan bahan, pemotongan, pembentukan, penghalusan, pembuatan ornamentasi, penyeteman dan pewarnaan, mengunakan bahan dasar kayu dari lima jenis pohon, menghasilkan bunyi melalui badan alat musik tersebut dengan cara dipukul menggunakan tongkat pemukulnya.;---This research was entitled “An Organologic Study of Traditional Music Instrument canang ceureukeh in Lhoksemawe town, Aceh Province”. Canang ceureukeh is a rhythmic and melodic music instrument which is part of traditional instruments in Lhoksemawe town. Its physical construction consists of a support, blades, and a hammer made of wood, played by beating it with a tool that is also made of wood. The present research investigated the organology of music instrument canang ceureukeh, with a focus of problem on its production concept, materials and production process, and techniques of producing sounds in music instrument canang ceureukeh. The research method used was a qualitative method by an ethnomusicology approach. The research findings revealed that canang ceureukeh belongs to a classification of idiophone, having four pitches. There is a concept behind the survival of the musical instrument canang ceureukeh, divided into two aspects, namely contextual aspect, including musical, social, and philosophical functions, and textual aspect, including basic materials, shapes, and ways of playing. The process of producing music instrument canang ceureukeh consists of the following stages: material selection, cutting, shaping, smoothing, ornamentation, tuning up, and coloring, by utilizing wooden basic materials from five different kinds of trees. The sounds of the music instrument are produced by beating the body of the instrument with a hammer.
