Abstract
Penelitian ini berangkat dari adanya pengaruh Globalisasi membuat moral peserta didik
menurun, melalui Pembelajaran IPS dapat mengembangkan nilai karakter bangsa yang
disinergikan dengan program terbaru Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan yaitu
program Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter (PPK), selain itu SMP 2 Kota Bandung
merupakan sekolah pilotting dan sekaligus rujukan untuk mengimplementasikan progam
ini. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini, ialah (1) Bagaimana proses pelaksanaan
pembelajaran IPS yang berkarakter, (2) karakter yang dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran
IPS, (3) faktor pendukung dan penghambat serta, (4) upaya yang dilakukan dalam
mengatasi kendala yang terjadi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 2 Kota Bandung
dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif desain penelitian studi kasus, data yang
diperoleh melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek Penelitian
dilakukan kepada Kepala Sekolah, Waka Kurikulum, Guru IPS, dan siswa. Hasil
penelitian ini terungkap bahwa : 1) Proses pembelajaran IPS dilakukan secara holistik dan
berkesinambungan, 2) Karakter yang dikembangkan dalam pembelajaran IPS adalah lima
nilai karakter yang berdasarkan PPK yaitu nilai religius, nasionalis, mandiri, gotong
royong dan integritas, 3) Faktor pendukung berasal dari program pembiasaan sekolah dan
faktor penghambat yaitu tidak adanya keberlanjutan program pembiasaan serta minimnya
monitoring di lingkungan keluarga, 4) upaya yang dilakukan dengan memperbaharui
program pembiasaan yang pernah ada dan merealisasikan masukan dari pendidik dan
tenaga pendidik.
;---The idea of this research came from how Globalization affects students’ moral quality to
be decreasing. However, national character value can be developed through Social
Studies learning process synergized with the latest Ministry of Education and Culture
program namely Strenghtening Character Building Education (Penguatan Pendidikan
Karakter: PPK). SMPN 2 Kota Bandung is a piloting school and as the target to
implement this program. The problems in this study are (1) How is the process of
character building implementation in Social Studies learning process, (2) What are the
characters developed in Social Studies learning process, (3) The supporting and inhibiting
factors and, (4) What are the efforts to solve the problems occurred. This research was
conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Kota Bandung using qualitative case study research method.
The data was obtained from analysis, interviews, and documentation studies. The subjects
of this research were the School Principal, School Curriculum Division, Social Studies
teacher, and students. The results of this study revealed that: 1) The Social Studies
learning process was carried out holistically and continuously, 2) The characters
developed in Social Studies learning process were five character values based on PPK
which are religious, nationalist, independent, mutual cooperation and integrity, 3) The
supporting factors came from school habituation program and inhibiting factors came
from the lack of sustainability in the school habituation program and the lack of family
careness, 4) The way to solve the problems were by updating the school habituation
program and carrying out teachers’opinion.
