Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan sebagai salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi lingkungan siswa SMP pesisir kelas VII di Kecamatan Surade, Sukabumi dengan menggunakan pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing. Kemampuan literasi lingkungan siswa yang diteliti mencakup tiga aspek yaitu pengetahuan, keterampilan kognitif dan sikap terhadap lingkungan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu pre-eksperimental design, dengan desain penelitian one-group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian ini hanya melibatkan satu kelas eksperimen dan tidak digunakan kelas kontrol sebagai pembanding serta sampel tidak dipilih secara acak. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu soal pilihan ganda pada aspek pengetahuan dan aspek keterampilan kognitif, angket skala Likert pada aspek sikap terhadap lingkungan, lembar observasi aktivitas kelompok siswa, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan proses pembelajaran, angket respon siswa dan penilaian lembar kerja siswa. Peningkatan kemampuan literasi lingkungan siswa diukur dengan menggunakan N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan literasi lingkungan aspek pengetahuan yaitu 0,43 berada pada kategori sedang, aspek keterampilan kognitif yaitu 0,22 berada pada kategori rendah, aspek sikap terhadap lingkungan yaitu 0,27 berada pada kategori rendah. Aktivitas belajar siswa dan keterlaksanaan proses pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing terlaksana dengan sangat baik. Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing berada pada kategori tinggi. Kata kunci: literasi lingkungan, lingkungan pesisir, inkuiri terbimbing ----------- This research is carried out as one of the efforts to improve the environmental literacy ability of the second year students of junior high school in the coastal area in Surade, Sukabumi by using guided inquiry learning. The students’ environmental literacy ability that is examined in this study includes three aspects, namely knowledge, cognitive skills, and attitude towards the environment. The research method that is used in this study is pre-experimental design, with a one-group pretest-posttest design. This study only involves one experimental class. The control class is not used as a comparison, and the samples are not randomly selected. The instruments that are used in the study are multiple-choice questions with knowledge and cognitive skills aspect, Likert scale questionnaires towards the attitude to the environment aspect, observation sheets of the student group activities, observation sheets of the learning process implementation, students’ response questionnaires, and the assessment of the students’ worksheets. The improvement of the students’ environmental literacy skills is measured using N-Gain. The result shows that the improvement of the environmental literacy skill in the knowledge aspect is was 0.43, in the medium category; the cognitive aspect is was 0.22, in the low category; the attitude towards the environment aspect is was 0.27, in the low category. The students’ learning activities and the implementation of the guided inquiry learning processes are carried out very well. The students’ responses towards guided inquiry learning are in the high category. Keywords: environmental literacy, coastal environment, guided inquiry
