Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah yang peneliti temukan ketika mengamati rendahnya keterampilan menyimak siswa pada pembelajaran IPS di SMPN 44 Bandung. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari respon siswa terhadap aktivitas pembelajaran yang tidak menunjukkan respon positif dalam mendengarkan materi seperti tidak memperhatikan dan tidak berusaha memahami penjelasan. Ketika peneliti melakukan PPL, peneliti melihat respons positif ketika melaksanakan pembelajaran menggunakan story telling (bercerita). Oleh karena itu, peneliti tertarik untuk menguji efek bercerita pada keterampilan menyimak siswa. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat kestabilan keterampilan menyimak siswa sebelum treatment, perbedaan setelah treatment dan membandingkan keterampilan menyimak siswa antara sebelum dan sesudah treatment. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, quasi eksperimen, desain time series design. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada kelas 7F SMPN 44 Bandung. Penelitian ini berlangsung selama 4 kali yang dibagi menjadi 2 pertemuan sebelum treatment dan 2 pertemuan setelah treatment. Dalam setiap pertemuan, siswa diberikan kuesioner yang sama untuk melihat kestabilan keterampilan menyimak siswa. Setelah penelitian, ditemukan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan keterampilan menyimak siswa sebelum treatment, ada peningkatan setelah treatment dan bercerita berpengaruh pada keterampilan menyimak siswa. Selain hasil kuesioner, lembar observasi juga menunjukkan peningkatan antara sebelum dan sesudah diberikan treatment menggunakan story telling. Kata kunci: Story telling, keterampilan menyimak ------ This Research was motivated by the problem that researchers found when observing students’ low listening skill at SMPN 44 Bandung in social studies learning. This can be seen from the students' responses to the learning activity did not show any positive in listening to the exposure. The response was like students didn’t pay attention and no effort to understand the explanation. When the researcher’s doing PPL we saw a positive response when researchers conducted learning using story telling. Therefore, researchers are interested in testing the effect of story telling on students’ listening skills. The main purpose of this study are to look at the stability of listening skills of students before treatment, the difference after treatment and comparing students’ listening skill between before and after treatment. The study uses a quantitative approach, a quasi-experimental method, with time series design. The study was focused on 7F of SMPN 44 Bandung. The study lasted for 4 times which were divided into 2 meetings before treatment and 2 meetings after treatment. In each meeting, students are given the same questionnaire to see the stability of students' listening skills. After the research, it was found that there no differences in the listening skills of students before treatment, there was an increase after the treatment and story telling had an effect on students' listening skills. In addition to the results of the questionnaire, the observation sheet also showed an increase from before treatment was given. Keywords: Story telling, listening skill
