Abstract

Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan penerapan peer assessment dalam penilaian kemampuan komunikasi siswa SMP pada konsep keanekaragaman makhluk hidup. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari satu kelas siswa kelas satu SMP yang berjumlah 27 siswa. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui angket, observasi, membandingkan hasil penilaian observer dengan hasil penilaian siswa terhadap presentasi lisan siswa, dan wawancara guru. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua tahap, yaitu tahap latihan dan tahap implementasi peer assessment. Siswa diminta menyampaikan presentasi lisan secara berkelompok yang dinilai secara berkelompok menggunakan lembar penilaian presentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peer assessment dapat dilaksanakan sesuai dengan tahapan prosedur peer assessment yang ditentukan dan sikap siswa positif dalam melakukan peer assessment. Rata-rata keseluruhan kesesuaian hasil penilaian siswa dan observer, yaitu 65,5% yang menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan peer assessment dalam menilai presentasi termasuk ke dalam kategori baik. Kendala yang dihadapi diantaranya, yaitu masih adanya kesalahan prosedur oleh siswa dalam melakukan peer assessment, keterbatasan waktu pembelajaran, dan situasi kelas yang terkadang kurang kondusif. Guru dan siswa memberikan tanggapan yang positif terhadap penerapan peer assessment. Kata kunci: peer assessment, kemampuan komunikasi, konsep keanekaragaman makhluk hidup The study described the implementation of peer assessment in assessing communication skills of junior high school students on biodiversity concept. The sample was a first grade junior high school class consists of 27 students. The data was collected through questionnaire, observation, comparing observer marks with students’ marks in assessing students’ oral presentation, and teacher interview. The study was carried out in two phases, the training phase and the implementation phase of peer assessment. Students were asked to give an oral presentation in groups that assessed by groups using oral presentation peer assessment sheet. The result of this study showed that peer assessment can be implemented appropriate with the peer assessment procedure given and students’ attitude in doing peer assessment was positive. The overall average value of assessment result between students and observer was 65,5% that showed student ability in using peer assessment in assessing communication skills was good. In addition, the obstacles involved were about the existence of procedural errors made by students in doing peer assessment, the limited of time allocation, and the less conducive of class situation. Both teacher and students had positive response toward peer assessment implementation. Keywords: peer assessment, communication skills, inquiry based learning, biodiversity concept
