Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan menulis teks berita pada tingkat sekolah menengah pertama menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Model teams games tournament diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif untuk pembelajaran menulis teks berita. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang kemampuan menulis teks berita peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe teams games tournament dalam menulis teks berita di kelas eksperimen, kemampuan menulis teks berita peserta didik dalam menulis teks berita di kelas kontrol, dan signifikansi kemampuan menulis teks berita pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebelum dan sesudah penelitian. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan pretes-post test control grup design. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes dengan format tes uraian bebas dan nontes dengan metode observasi, dokumentasi, dan angket. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 54 orang dari dua kelas yang dijadikan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, diperoleh nilai rata-rata prates di kelas eksperimen sebesar 59 dengan kategori kurang, dan pascates sebesar 68 dengan kategori cukup. Nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol pada prates sebesar 53 dengan kategori kurang dan pascates sebesar 56 dengan kategori kurang. Uji hipotesis dengan taraf kepercayaan 95% dan derajat kebebasan (dk) 52 diperoleh hasil thitung sebesar 3.036 dengan ttabel sebesar 2.00665, sehingga thitung. ≥ ttabel . Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa model teams games tournament dalam pembelajaran menulis teks berita terbukti efektif.-------- The low ability to write news texts at the junior high school level is the background of this study. The teams games tournament model is expected to be an alternative for learning to write news texts. The purpose of this study was to obtain a picture of the ability to write news texts of students before and after using the cooperative learning model of the types of teams games tournament in writing news texts in the experimental class, the ability to write news texts of students in writing news texts in the control class, and the significance of the ability writing news texts in the experimental class and the control class before and after research. The method used in this study is a quasi experiment with pretes-post test control grup design. Research data collection using test techniques with the format of the free description test and non-test using the method of observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The research sample consisted of 54 people from two classes which were used as the experimental class and the control class. Based on the results of this study, the average value of pre-test in the experimental class was 59 with less category, and post-test was 68 with enough category. The average value of the control class in pre-test was 53 with less category and post-test was 56 with less category. Hypothesis testing with a confidence level of 95% and a degree of freedom (dk) 52 obtained t table results of 2.00665 with t count of 3.036, so that t. ≥table. Based on these data it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. This shows that the teams games tournament model in learning to write news texts has proven to be effective.
