Abstract

Siswa sekolah menengah dengan perkembangan kognitif level konkrit dituntut untuk memahami pelajaran abstrak dan memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai pengaruh media model partikel materi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen jenis two group pre-test post-test.Subjek penelitian adalah 64 orang siswa kelas VIII salah satu SMP swasta di kota Bandung. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes tertulis, pengisian angket dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pencapaian keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa rata-rata meningkat sebesar 68,02% yang termasukkategoribaik.Uji beda rata-rata menggunakan independent ttest menunjukan signifikansi (sig.(2-tailed))sebesar 0,036,artinyaterdapat perbedaanpeningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Siswa berpendapat bahwa pembelajaran dengan media model membuat mereka ingin lebih banyak bertanya; mudah mendefinisikan atom, ion, dan molekul; memudahkan siswa membuat hipotesis dan kesimpulan, dan menggolongkan contoh-contoh. Sementara itu, menurut pendapat guru media model menarik, meningkatkan keinginan siswa untuk belajar dan memudahkan guru menjelaskan materi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, media model dapat menjadi alternatif dalam proses pembelajaran. The student of secondary school has cognitive development on concrete level, but lesson about something abstract should be understood and skill of critical thinking should had. The purpose of this research is for getting the information about the influence of material particel model media on invroving skill of critism thinking of the student of VIII junior high school. This research is done by using quasi experiment methods in short of two group pre-test post-test. The research subject are 64 people students class on one of private junior high school at Bandung city. Data is collected by writting test. questionnaire, and interview. The result of research shows that achievement of critical thinking skill of students are improve significantly 68, 02 % and it includes a good category. Different mean test that use independent test show that the significance (sig.(2-tailed)) is 0,036 , means that there is an improvement on skill of critical thinking significantly to experiment class if compared with control class. The opinion of students shows that learning by model media made students want to asking questions more; definite atom, ion and molecule easily; and facilitate students for making hypothesis, conclutions, and classificate the examples. On the other side, the opinion of teacher said that model media is interesting, improves the desire of student to study hard and facilitates teacher to explain the lesson. By the result of research, media model can be the one of alternatives for learning proccess.
