Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pembelajaran membaca buku pengayaan nonfiksi yang tidak mendapat perhatian khusus dan hanya sebatas seremonial di sekolah, serta masih rendahnya kemampuan membaca teks nonfiksi peserta didik kelas VIII. Peneliti menerapkan metode Think-Aloud Reading dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman teks nonfiksi di kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Bandung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuktikan adanya pengaruh dari metode membaca Think-Aloud Reading dalam pembelajaran membaca teks nonfiksi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Desain. Pengambilan sampel kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dilakukan secara acak. Pengambilan data menggunakan instrumen tes yang berupa tes kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan nontes yang berupa wawancara dan observasi. Prosedur analisis data hasil tes menggunakan uji validitas, reliabilitas, uji kesukaran soal, daya beda, normalitas, homogenitas, dan hipotesis. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh dari metode Think-Aloud Reading. Rata-rata nilai peserta didik mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan, terutama pada kelas eksperimen. Rata-rata pada pretes di kelas eksperimen 35.11 meningkat menjadi 63.33 sedangkan rata-rata tes akhir di kelas kontrol 41.79 meningkat menjadi 48.06. Hasil analisis data tes dan nontes di kelas eksperimen dan kontrol membuktikan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan. Perbedaan yang signifikan dilihat dari hasil analisis data tes melalui uji hipotesis dengan hasil perhitungan nilai signifikansi tes akhir eksperimen dan kelas kontrol adalah 0,02 < 0,005 dan thitung > ttabel 2,385 > 1,674. Uji hipotetsis menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh dari penerapan metode Think-Aloud Reading dalam pembelajaran membaca teks nonfiksi pada peserta didik SMP kelas VIII.;This research is motivated by learning to read nonfiction enrichment books that do not receive special attention and are merely ceremonial in school. In addition, the ability to read nonfiction texts for junior high school grade VIII students is still low. Researchers applied the Think-Aloud Reading method in learning to read the understanding of nonfiction texts in class VIII of Muhammadiyah 8 Bandung Middle School. The purpose of this study is to prove the influence of the Think-Aloud Reading reading method in learning to read nonfiction text. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampling of the experimental class and the control class was done randomly. Retrieval of data using test instruments in the form of tests of reading comprehension skills and nontest in the form of interviews and observations. Procedure for analyzing test results using validity, reliability, difficulty test, difference power, normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis. The research findings show that there is an influence from the Think-Aloud Reading method. The average value of students experienced a significant increase, especially in the experimental class. The average pre-test in the experimental class 35.11 increased to 63.33 while the average final test in the control class 41.79 increased to 48.06. The results of the analysis of test and nontest data in the experimental and control classes prove that there are significant differences. Significant differences seen from the results of the analysis of test data through hypothesis testing with the results of the calculation of the significance value of the final test of the experiment and the control class were 0.02 <0.005 and tcount> ttable 2.338> 1.674. Hypothetical test shows that there is an effect of the application of the Think-Aloud Reading method in learning to read nonfiction text in junior high school grade VIII students.
