Abstract

Pengaruh Pembelajaran Kontekstual Terhadap Pengurangan Beban Kognitif Siswa Sma Kelas X Pada Materi Plantae. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran kontekstual terhadap penurunan beban kognitif siswa dalam mempelajari konsep plantae. Subjek dari Penelitian ini ialah siswa kelas 10 jurusan MIPA di SMA X, yang terdiri dari 33 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 32 siswa kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan karena banyaknya penelitian tentang beban kognitif namun jarang sekali yang mengaitkan pembelajaran kontekstual dengan beban kognitif, padahal pembelajaran kontekstual berpotensi untuk menurunkan beban kognitif siswa dalam mempelajari konsep pelajaran. Dalam Penelitian ini, digunakan desain penelitian non-equivalent control group. Pengaruh pembelajaran kontekstual ini diukur pada 3 komponen beban kognitif, yaitu Intrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL), Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL), dan Germane Cognitive Load (GCL). ICL diukur dengan instrumen berupa soal uraian, yang bertujuan untuk mengukur kemampuan analisis informasi siswa. ECL diukur dengan instrumen berupa angket usaha mental siswa dalam mempelajari konsep plantae. GCL diukur dengan instrumen soal multiple choice beralasan untuk mengukur kemampuan penalaran siswa. Data pada penelitian ini dianalisis dengan uji t dan uji Mann-Whitney U, untuk melihat perbedaan rata-rata kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen, serta melihat pengaruh tiap perlakuan terhadap ketiga komponen beban kognitif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kontekstual berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kemampuan analisis informasi dan penalaran siswa, serta menurunkan beban usaha mental siswa dalam mempelajari konsep plantae. This study aims to analyze the effect of contextual learning on reducing the cognitive load of students in learning the concept of plantae. The subjects of this study were high school students of grade X MIPA, which consisted of 33 experimental class students and 32 control class students. This study was carried out due to the many studies on cognitive load but rarely linking contextual learning with cognitive load, whereas contextual learning has the potential to reduce the cognitive load of students in learning the concept of the lesson. In this study, research design used is non-equivalent control group. The effect of contextual learning is measured on 3 components of cognitive load, namely Intrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL), Extraneous Cognitive Load (ECL), and Germane Cognitive Load (GCL). ICL is measured by an instrument in the form of a description item, which aims to measure the ability of students to analyze information. ECL was measured by an instrument in the form of a questionnaire of students' mental effort in learning the concept of plantae. GCL is measured by a reasonable multiple choice question instrument to measure students' reasoning abilities. The data in this study were analyzed by t-test and Mann-Whitney U test, to see the difference in the average of the control class and the experimental class, as well as to see the effect of each treatment on the three components of cognitive load. The results showed that contextual learning had an effect on improving students 'ability to analyze information and reasoning, and reduce the burden of students' mental effort in learning the concept of plantae.
