Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh cara berpikir, bersikap, dan berperilaku peserta didik di wilayah perbatasan yang cenderung tidak menampilkan kesetiaan dan penghargaan yang tinggi terhadap bahasa, lingkungan fisik, sosial, budaya, ekonomi, serta kurang menempatkan kepentingan bangsa dan negara di atas apapun. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan proses penguatan karakter nasionalisme melalui pembiasaan (habituasi) di SMPN Silawan, Kabupaten Belu, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Sekolah menyelenggarakan best practice pembiasaan berupa upacara bendera, penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia, yel – yel kebangsaan, menyanyikan lagu nasional, penyambutan tamu kenegaraan, keteladanan guru, serta Pramuka, dan Paskibra. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik, guru, dan tokoh masyarakat. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis keabsahan data terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa sekolah mampu menguatkan karakter nasionalisme peserta didik melalui program habituasi. Hal tersebut ditunjukan melalui cara berpikir, bersikap, dan berperilaku peserta didik di wilayah perbatasan yang sudah menampilkan kesetiaan dan penghargaan yang tinggi terhadap bahasa, lingkungan fisik, sosial, budaya, ekonomi, serta menempatkan kepentingan bangsa dan negara di atas apapun. Kata kunci : karakter nasionalisme; habituasi; wilayah perbatasan; Timor Leste; peserta didik This research is motivated by the way of thinking, behavior, and behaving of students in border areas who tend not to display high loyalty and respect for language, physical environment, social, cultural, economic, and less placing the interests of the nation and state above anything. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of strengthening the character of nationalism through habituation in SMPN Silawan, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. Schools hold best practice program included flag ceremonies, paskibra(flag raiser), the use of good and appropriate Indonesian language, singing national anthem before and end the learning, welcoming state guests in the border region, and using national yells. The research process used qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Subjects in this study were students, teachers, and community leaders. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis of the validity of the data consists of data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that schools were able to strengthen the nationalism character of students through habituation programs. This is shown through the way of thinking, behaving, and behaving of students in border areas that have displayed high loyalty and respect for language, physical environment, social, cultural, economic, and placing the interests of the nation and state above anything.
