Abstract
Abstrak: Kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang semakin berkembang pesat sangat mempengaruhi kehidupan manusia. Tuntutan abad 21 salah satunya mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hal tersebut menjadi tantangan yang besar bagi Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan untuk selalu meningkatkan kualitas lulusan sehingga lulusannya mampu bersaing di dunia kerja. Salah satu Standar Kompetensi Lulusan (SKL) pada satuan pendidikan Sekolah Menegah Kejuruan adalah menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Namun pada kenyataannya, pendidikan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan di Indonesia dinilai masih kurang menunjang tumbuh kembangnya proses berpikir kritis. Hal tersebut terjadi pada siswa kelas X paket keahlian Desain Pemodelan dan Informasi Bangunan (DPIB) pada mata pelajaran Dasar-dasar Konstruksi Bangunan. Kemampuan berpikir siswa masih termasuk dalam tingkat rendah. Siswa kurang memiliki kemampuan untuk merumuskan gagasan sendiri dan kurang memiliki keberanian untuk menyampaikan pendapat pada orang lain. Hal ini dikarenakan sempitnya pola pikir siswa tentang suatu pemahaman yang dipelajarinya. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, perlu adanya inovasi untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Salah satunya dengan model pembelajaran yang sesuai karakteristik berpikir kritis dan tuntutan abad 21 yaitu model Project Based Learning dan Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Project Based Learning dan Problem Based Learning pada mata pelajaran Dasar-dasar Konstruksi Bangunan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah True Experimental Design dengan bentuk Posttest Only Control Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X DPIB SMKN 5 Bandung, di mana sampel penelitian sebanyak dua kelas yang dipilih secara acak. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi aktifitas siswa, dan tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran Project Based Learning lebih baik dibanding model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning pada mata pelajaran Dasar-dasar Konstruksi Bangunan. One of the 21st century demands is developing critical thinking skills. This is a big challenge for vocational high schools to always improve their quality of graduates so that the graduates are able to compete in the world of work. One of the graduates competency standards in the vocational education school unit is showing the critical thinking skills. But in reality, the education of vocational high schools in Indonesia is still considered to be less support the development of critical thinking processes. This condition happens to students of class X Building Modeling and Information Design (DPIB) on the Basic of Building Construction subjects. Student’s thinking skills are still in low level. Students are lack of the ability to formulate their own ideas and lack of the courage to express their opinions to others. This is because of the narrow mindset of students about the concepts that they learn. Based on these problems, an innovation is needed to develop student’s critical thinking skills. One of the innovations is a learning model that fits the characteristics of critical thinking and the 21st century demands, namely Project Based Learning and Problem Based Learning models. This research aims to compare critical thinking skills using Project Based Learning and Problem Based Learning models on the Basic of Building Construction subjects. The research uses the experimental research method. This research design is True Experimental Design with the type of Posttest Only Control Design. The population of this research is the students of class X DPIB SMKN 5 Bandung, while the research samples consist of two classes that are selected randomly. The research instruments are observation sheet of student’s activities and the tests of critical thinking skills. The data analysis results show that student who use Project Based Learning model have better critical thinking skills than students who use Problem Based Learning in the Basic of Building Construction subjects.
