Abstract

Lagu St Elmo’s Fire merupakan sebuah karya David Foster dimana lagu ini yang dibawakan oleh seorang penyanyi berkebangsaan inggris Jhon Parr dari sebuah film garapan 1985 St Elmo’s Fire. lagu ini awalnya ditulis oleh David Foster dan Jhon Parr untuk atlet kanada Rick Hansen, yang pada saat itu berkeliling di kursi rodanya untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan cidera tulang belakang dalam trip bertajuk Man in Motion Tour. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan struktur lagu St Elmo’s Fire, dan penelitian ini di fokuskan pada struktur dan harmoni. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Dimana data yang diperoleh dengan cara observasi, wawancara, studi literatur, dan dokumentasi. Hasil temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa di tinjau dari struktur lagu, pada lagu St Elmo’s Fire. mempunyai bentuk biner 2 bagian yang terdiri dari biner bagian A dan biner bagian B, kemudian terdapat 4 motif dimana motif ini diolah dengan teknik sekuen turun dan ulangan harafiah. Dan terdapat pula sebuah frase yang dibentuk dengan frase antecendence dan frase consequence. Di tinjau dari harmoni, pertama melodi pada lagu St Elmo’s fire di bentuk dengan akor dan interval. Kedua pada ritme menggunakan birama 4/4 yang terdiri dari not 1/4, not 1/2, not 1/8, not 1 setengah, not 2 setengah, dan not penuh. Ketiga mempunyai tanda dinamik yang terdiri dari mezzo piano (mf), mezzo forte (mf), dan forte (f). Dan keempat kadens di bentuk dengan akor poko beserta fungsinya.;--The song St Elmo's Fire is a work by David Foster where this song was performed by an English singer Jhon Parr from a film from 1985 St Elmo's Fire. This song was originally written by David Foster and Jhon Parr for Canadian athletes Rick Hansen, who at that time toured his wheelchair to raise awareness of spinal injuries in a trip titled Man in Motion Tour. This study aims to describe the structure of the song St Elmo's Fire, and this research is focused on structure and harmony. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Where the data obtained by observation, interview, literature study, and documentation. The findings of this study indicate that in terms of the structure of the song, on the song St Elmo's Fire. has a binary form 2 parts consisting of binary part A and binary part B, then there are 4 motives where this motif is processed with the sequence sequence technique and literal repeat. And there is also a phrase formed with antecendence phrases and consequence phrases. In terms of harmony, the first melody on the song St Elmo's fire is in the form of chords and intervals. Second at rhythm use a 4/4 birama consisting of notes 1/4, not 1/2, notes 1/8, notes 1 half, notes 2 half, and notes full. All three have dynamic signs consisting of mezzo piano (mf), mezzo forte (mf), and forte (f). And all four cadences are formed with poko chords and their functions.
