Abstract

ABSTRAK PENERAPAN METODE PQ4R (PREVIEW, QUESTION, READ, REFLECT, RECITE, REVIEW) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS III SEKOLAH DASAR Oleh Anwar Saepudin 1504124 Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kemampuan siswa kelas III salah satu sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Cidadap Kota Bandung dalam memahami sebuah teks. Hal ini ditunjukan berdasarkan data awal ketuntasan belajar siswa sebesar 18,51% yang mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimum (75). Penelitian ini difokuskan pada upaya peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa melalui penerapan metode PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode PQ4R untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas III. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dilakukan sebanyak dua siklus, dan tiap-tiap siklus terdiri atas tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu: observasi, tes, dan studi dokumentasi. Data kualitatif dianalisis dengan menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penyimpulan data. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan rata-rata dan presentase. Hasil penelitian ketercapaian aktivitas guru pada setiap siklus semakin meningkat. Sementara itu, ketuntasan belajar klasikal hasil membaca pemahaman siswa juga mengalami peningkatan persentase sebesar 50% siklus I menjadi 92,30% pada siklus II, jadi meningkat sekitar 42,30% dari siklus I ke siklus II. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan metode PQ4R (preview, question, read, reflect, recite, review) telah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas III sekolah dasar. ABSTRACT APPLICATION OF PQ4R METHOD (PREVIEW, QUESTION, READ, REFLECT, RECITE, AND REVIEW) TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSION SKILL OF THIRD GRADE STUDENTS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS By Anwar Saepudin 1504124 This research is motivated by the lack of ability of third grade students in one of the elementary schools in Cidadap District, Bandung City of understanding a text. Method it is proved by the presence of students who received grades that do not meet the minimum completeness criteria (75) the precentase is 18,51%. The research is focused on improving the students' reading comprehension through of PQ4R (Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review) method. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the PQ4R method to improve reading comprehension skills of third grade students. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with Kemmis and Mc Taggart models. This study used the design of classroom action research (CAR) conducted by two cycles, and each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques, namely: observation, testing, and study documentation. Qualitative data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and data inference. Quantitative data were analyzed using averages and percentages. The results of the research achievement of the activities of teachers, at each cycle were increasing. Meanwhile, the results of classical learning completeness students' reading comprehension also increased from the 50% in the first cycle to 92,30% in the second cycle, so an increase of approximately 42,39% from the first to the second cycle. The results showed that the application of the PQ4R method (preview, question, read, reflect, recite, review) had been able to improve reading comprehension skill of third grade students in elementary school.
