Abstract

Kemampuan matematika siswa Indonesia tergolong rendah. Keadaan tersebut salah satunya terlihat dari hasil penilaian Internasional. Penilaian tersebut berhubungan dengan kemampuan literasi matemati siswa. Beberapa penelitian juga mengungkapkan bahwa kemampuan matematis siswa Indonesia masih rendah. Bahkan soal-soal yang diberikan dalam tes kemampuan matematis siswa sudah sesuai dengan konteks Indonesia. Salah satu aspek yang terdapat dalam soal literasi adalah bahasa. Aspek bahasa erat kaitannya dengan soal-soal yang terdapat dalam literasi matematis. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang kesulitan siswa SMP pada aspek bahasa dan representasi model matematis dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal literasi matematis. Aspek bahasa yang ditinjau pada penelitian ini yaitu sesuai dengan aspek bahasa penyusun soal cerita. Aspek bahasa tersebut yaitu aspek kosakata, tata bahasa dan sintaks. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII yang terdiri dari dua kelas dari dua sekolah yang berbeda di kota Padang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Instrumen tes berupa soal dan instrumen non-tes berupa wawancara semi terstruktur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, terdapat siswa yang mengalami kesulitan untuk masing-masing aspek bahasa yang ditinjau dan juga representasi model matematis. Artinya, terdapat siswa yang kesulitan pada aspek kosakata, tata bahasa dan sintaks, dan representasi model matematis. Kesulitan siswa tersebut disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor. Berdasarkan hasil analisis lembar jawaban siswa dan dibantu oleh hasil wawancara, diketahui beberapa faktor penyebab siswa kesulitan. Pada aspek kosakata, penyebab siswa kesulitan yaitu siswa tidak menuliskan informasi yang terdapat dalam soal dalam bentuk diketahui, siswa tidak terbiasa mengerjakan soal dengan kosakata yang dituliskan secara lengkap, dan siswa tidak terbiasa mengerjakan soal dengan permasalahan yang kompleks. Pada aspek tata bahasa, penyebab siswa kesulitan yaitu siswa tidak membaca soal dengan berulang, siswa tidak menuliskan informasi yang terdapat pada soal dengan jelas serta siswa kurang teliti dalam menerapkan informasi yang diberikan pada soal dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi matematis. ------ Indonesian students' mathematical abilities are low. One of the conditions is seen from the results of the International assessment. The assessment relates to students' literacy skills. Some studies also reveal that the mathematical abilities of Indonesian students are still low. Even the questions given in the test of students’ mathematical abilities are in accordance with the Indonesian context. One aspect contained in the questions contained mathematical literacy. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to obtain an overview of the difficulties of junior high school students in aspects of language and mathematical model representation in solving mathematical literacy questions. The language aspects reviewed in this study are in accordance with the language aspects of the compiler of the story. The language aspects are vocabulary, grammar and syntax. The research desugn used was descriptive research with a qualitative approach. Participants in this study were class VIII students consisting of two classes from two classes from two different schools in the city of Padang. The instruments used were test instruments in the form of questions and non-test insruments in the form of semi-structured interviews. Based on the result of the study, there were students who experienced difficulties for each aspect of the language reviewed and also the representation of mathematical models. That is, there are students who have difficulties in the aspects of vocabulary, grammar and syntax, and representations of mathematical models. The student’s difficulties are caused by several factors. Based on the results of the analysis of the students answer sheet and assisted by the results of the interview, it is known that several factors cause student difficulties. In the vocabulary aspect, the cause of student difficulties is that students do not write down the information contained in the question in known form, students are not accustomed to working on questions with written vocabulary in full, and students are not used to working on problems with complex problems. In the aspects of grammar, the cause of students' difficulties is that students do not read the questions repeatedly, students do not write down the information contained in the questions clearly and students are not careful in applying the information given to the questions in solving mathematical literacy questions.
