Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang peningkatan kemampuan memahami dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah fisika siswa SMK sebagai efek penerapan modeling instruction dalam pembelajaran Fisika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan desain the randomized control group pretest-postest design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X pada salah satu SMK di Kabupaten Kampar, Provinsi Riau. Sampel dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling hingga diperoleh satu kelas modeling instruction dan satu kelas konvensional dengan jumlah siswa pada masing-masing kelas 33 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data kemampuan memahami dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah adalah tes kemampuan memahami berbentuk pilihan ganda dan tes kemampuan memecahkan masalah berbentuk uraian. Teknik analisi data MANOVA digunakan untuk mengatahui pengaruh pembelajaran, sedangkan uji-t digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaaan signifikansi N-gain kelas modeling instruction dan kelas konvensional. Hasil capaian rata-rata N-Gain kemampuan memahami kelas modeling instruction (0,56) dan kelas konvensional (0,33) serta capaian rata-rata N-Gain memecahkan masalah kelas modeling instruction (0,57) dan kelas konvensional (0,37). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan modeling instruction dalam pembelajaran Fisika dapat lebih meningkatkan kemampuan memahami dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah fisika siswa SMK dibandingkan dengan penerapan pembelajaran konvensional.;--- The aim of this research was to obtain enhancement understanding and physics problem solving skills of vocation student’s as the effect of modeling instruction applied in physics learning. Quasi experiment method was used with the randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted on the students in grade 10th at one of vocation school in Kampar district, Riau Province that was choice with random sampling technique. So that obtained modeling instruction class and one control class with 33 students both of them. Understanding skills and Problem solving skills data was collected by using understanding skills test instrument in the multiple choice and problem solving skills test instrument in the essay. MANOVA Data analysis techniques was used to find out effect of modeling instruction learning, while t-test was used to determine the significance difference of N-gain modeling instruction class and conventional class. The result of the mean N-gain achievement understanding skill is 0.56 modeling instruction class and conventional class is 0.33 as well the mean N-gain achievement problem solving skill is 0.57 for modeling instruction class and conventional class is 0.37. The results show that the application of modeling instruction in physics learning can improve the understanding skills and physics problem solving skills of vocational students compared with the application of conventional learning.
