Abstract

Peran matematika dalam pendidikan sangat penting agar kemampuan peserta didik dapat terus berkembang, baik itu dalam ilmu matematika ataupun ilmu lainnya. Selain untuk menunjang ilmu pengetahuan lain, matematika juga memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari yaitu sebagai sarana dalam pemecahan masalah kehidupan. Jadi, peserta didik diupayakan supaya terampil menggunakan matematika untuk peningkatan aspek kognitif dan aspek afektifnya melalui pembelajaran yang menuntut siswa dapat berperan aktif. Melalui model project-based learning, guru berusaha mengoptimalkan kemampuan pemahaman siswa dalam memahami konsep materi dengan sistem student centre untuk meningkatkan gairah belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan motivasi matematis siswa melalui model project-based learning dan pendekatan konvensional, mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan motivasi matematis antara model project-based learning dan pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi-experimental design dan desain the nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh siswa kelas IV seKecamatan Sumedang Utara, dengan sampel penelitian yaitu siswa Kelas IV SDN Sindang IV (kontrol) dan Kelas IV di SDN Sindang II (eksperimen). Adapun simpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian, yaitu 1) Model project-based learning dan pembelajaran konvensional dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman dan motivasi belajar siswa, 2) Model project-based learning lebih baik secara signifikan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman dan motivasi belajar dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional, 3) Terdapat hubungan positif antara kemampuan pemahaman dan motivasi matematis siswa. In addition to supporting other sciences, mathematics also has an important role in everyday life as a means of solving life problems. So, students are strived to be skilled in using mathematics to increase cognitive and affective aspects through learning that requires students to play an active role. Through the project-based learning model, the teacher seeks to optimize students' comprehension skills in understanding material concepts with a student center system to increase student learning passion. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical understanding and mathematical motivation through the project- based learning model and conventional approaches, to know the differences in the improvement of mathematical understanding skills and mathematical motivation between the project-based learning model and the conventional `1` approach. This study uses a method that is quasi-experimental design and design, namely the nonequivalent control group design. The study population was all fourth-grade students in the North Sumedang sub-district, with a sample of study namely Class IV students at SDN Sindang IV (control) and Class IV at SDN Sindang II (experiment). The conclusions obtained from the study, namely 1) Project-based learning models and conventional approaches can improve students' mathematical understanding and motivation abilities, 2) The project-based learning model is significantly better in improving mathematical understanding and motivation compared to conventional approaches, 3) There is a positive relationship between the ability of students' understanding and mathematical motivation.
