Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena kurangnya minat siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis, terutama dalam menulis teks deskripsi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) Mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks deskripsi di kelas eksperimen sebelum menggunakan strategi Role-Audience-Format-Topic (RAFT) dengan media komik bisu, 2) Mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa di kelas kontrol sebelum dan setelah penerapan metode berlangsung, 3) Mendeskripsikan perbedaan yang signifikan mengenai kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebelum dan setelah penerapan strategi RAFT (Role-Audience-Format-Topic) Berbantuan Media Komik Bisu di kelas eksperimen dan metode pembelajaran terlangsung di kelas kontrol. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan desain pretes-posstest control group desain. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 32 orang di kelompok eksperimen dan 32 orang di kelas kontrol. Sampel tersebut diambil dengan menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap tes awal, tahap perlakuan, dan tahap tes akhir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan kategori uji reliabilitas antarpenimbang, uji normalitas, dan uji hipotesis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pretes dan postes yang sudah dilakukan di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol didapatkan hasil bahwa data tersebut berdistribusi normal. Serta diperoleh hasil Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,02 < 0,05 artinya H˳ ditolak dan Hᵃ diterima, atau dengan perkataan lain terdapat perbedaan nilai yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi RAFT berbantuan media komik bisu dinilai efektif dalam pembelajaran menulis teks deskripsi karena mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Bandung. ;--This research was motivated by the lack of student interest in writing learning, especially in writing description texts. The purpose of this study are 1) Describe the ability of students in writing description texts in the experimental class before using the Role-Audience-Format-Topic (RAFT) strategy with silent comic media, 2) Describe the ability to write student description texts in the control class before and after the application of the method took place, 3) Describe significant differences regarding the ability to write student description texts in the experimental class and control class before and after the application of Assisted Role-Audience-Format-Topic (RAFT) Mute Media strategies in the experimental class and the learning method takes place in the control class. The method used in this study is quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design. The sample in this study consisted of 32 people in the experimental group and 32 people in the control class. The sample was taken using cluster random sampling technique. This research was conducted in three stages, namely the initial test phase, the treatment stage, and the final test phase. The results showed that there were significant differences in learning to write description texts. Data analysis was conducted with the category of reliability between weighing test, normality test, and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest research that have been carried out in the experimental class and control class, the results are obtained that the data is normally distributed. And the results obtained Sig (2-tailed) of 0.02 <0.05 means that H˳ is rejected and Hᵃ is accepted, or in other words there is a significant difference in value between the experimental class and the control class. This shows that the RAFT strategy assisted by mute comic media was considered effective in learning to write a description text because it was able to improve the writing skills of grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Bandung.
