Abstract

Pemahaman konsep siswa merupakan bagian penting dalam pembelajaran, pemahaman tersebut dapat ditingkatkan melalui proses pembelajaran yang menerapkan pembuatan peta konsep. Peta konsep yang dibuat oleh siswa mampu menunjukan sejauh mana siswa telah mempelajari suatu materi. Hasil studi pendahuluan menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam membuat peta konsep dinilai masih rendah, hal tersebut dibuktikan dari persentase kemampuan siswa dalam menentukan konsep utama, konsep inklusif, konsep kurang inklusif dan konsep spesifik. Persentase siswa yang dapat menentukan konsep utama hanya 63,89%, siswa yang dapat menentukan konsep inklusif sebanyak 55,56%, siswa yang dapat menentukan konsep kurang inklusif sebanyak 36,11% dan siswa yang dapat menentukan konsep spesifik sebanyak 25%. Rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam membuat peta konsep menandakan perlu adanya model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam membuat peta konsep. Model pembelajaran cooperative learning tipe think pair square (TPSq) diprediksi dapat mengoptimalkan kemampuan membuat peta konsep. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan dalam membuat peta konsep dan prestasi belajar siswa setelah diterapkannya model cooperative learning tipe Think Pair Square (TPSq) serta mengetahui korelasi antara kemapuan siswa dalam membuat peta konsep dengan prestasi belajar siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 27 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pilihan ganda yang berjumlah 30 soal, peta konsep siswa, dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil menunjukan bahwa dengan diterapkannya model cooperative learning tipe TPSq, kemampuan rata-rata siswa dalam membuat peta konsep mencapai 68,13 dengan kategori sedang, sedangkan peningkatan prestasi belajar siswa mencapai nilai n-gain sebesar 0,5 dengan kategori sedang serta nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,50 dengan kategori cukup. ;--Understanding student’s concept map is an important part of learning, conceptual understanding can be improved through by the implementation concept map in learning process. Concept maps created by students are able to show how far students have studied a material. The results of preliminary study indicate that student’s ability in making concept maps are still considered low, that show by the percentage of student’s ability to determined the key concepts, inclusive concepts, less inclusive concepts and specific concepts. The percentage of students who can determined the main concept is only 63.89%, the students who can determine the inclusive concept is 55.56%, the students who can determine the less inclusive concept is 36.11% and students who can determine the specific concept is 25%. The low ability of students in making the concept map are indicated that need a model of learning that can improve student’s ability in making concept maps. Cooperative learning model type thinking pair square (TPSq) predicted to optimize the ability to create concept maps. This research is done to know the ability in making concept map and student achievement after applying cooperative learning model of Think Pair Square type (TPSq) and to know correlation between student’s ability in making concept map with student achievement. This type of research is pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design with total sample of 27 students. Data were collected through by 30 multiple choice test, student’s concept maps, and instructional learning observation sheets. The result shows that by applying cooperative learning model of TPSq type, the average of student ability in making concept map is 68,13 with medium category, while the improve of student’s achievement reaches n-gain value equal to 0,5 with medium category and the value of coefficient correlation is equal to 0.50 with enough category.
