Abstract

Keragaman berpikir siswa khususnya dalam berpikir aljabar memiliki tingkatan tersendiri yang penting untuk disadari oleh guru dan siswa itu sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan level berpikir aljabar siswa sekolah menengah berdasarkan keberadaan objek aljabar dan konfigurasi kognitif yang terjadi. Dengan memberikan permasalahan aljabar kepada siswa kelas VII hingga kelas IX yang dilanjutkan dengan wawancara klinis, peneliti menganalisi sejauh mana level berpikir aljabar mereka dan pengalaman yang mendasarinya. Dari hasil analisis mengindikasikan terdapat level 0 sampai level 4 dari berbagai jenjang kelas. Ternyata pembelajaran aljabar yang siswa lalui di sekolah tidak menjamin siswa bisa berpikir aljabar. ;---The diversity of students algebraic thinking, has its own levels, which is important for the teachers and the students to notice. This research aimed to describe the level of secondary-school students’ algebraic thinking based on presence of algebraic objects and cognitive configuration that occur. Through the assignment of an algebra task to seventh to eleventh graders followed by clinical interview, this research analyzed to what extent their level of algebraic thinking along with underlying experiences. The analysis results indicated that there found levels 0 to 4 from these various grades. Interestingly, the learning of algebra that the student experienced at school did not guarantee their capability to apply algebraic thinking.
