Abstract

Permasalahan pokok yang dibahas dalam skripsi ini adalah bagaimana dinamika yang terjadi pada Inggris dalam keanggotaannya dengan Uni Eropa dari mulai saat integrasinya hingga referendum Brexit 2016. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis yang meliputi pengumpulan sumber yakni sumber tulisan, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Adapun pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan interdisipliner dengan menggunakan konsep dari ilmu hubungan internasional dan ekonomi seperti geostrategi, geopolitik, regionalisme, neofungsionalisme, dan integrasi ekonomi. Adapun teknik yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data yakni studi literatur dengan mengkaji sumber-sumber literatur yang relevan dengan permasalahan yang dikaji. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keanggotan Inggris dalam Uni Eropa dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi ekonomi Inggris yang terus menurun pasca Perang Dunia II. Kemudian proses keanggotaan Inggris yang berlangsung hampir sepuluh tahun karena sulitnya penyesuaian kebijakan-kebijakan Inggris dan Uni Eropa. Terlebih lagi veto dari Presiden Perancis de Gaulle, yang menjadi hambatan keanggotaan Inggris. Selajutnya setelah menjadi anggota Uni Eropa, Inggris tidak sejalan dalam beberapa kebijakan krusial di Uni Eropa. Seperti mengenai keanggotaan Inggris terhadap zona euro, social chapter dalam perjanjian Maastritcht, kemudian dalam menghadapi krisis Eropa. Hal tersebut membentuk karakter Inggris yang kemudian berkaitan dengan perdana menteri dan partai yang berkuasa (terutama Partai Buruh dan Partai Konservatif), yakni memunculkan karakter anti-Eropa dan pro-Eropa. Karakter tersebut tentunya berpengaruh terhadap referendum yang diselenggarakan tahun 2016, yakni menyebarnya sikap skeptis terhadap Eropa dari kalangan pemerintahan ke masyarakat luas yang menyukseskan kubu skeptis (anti-Eropa) agar Inggris keluar dari Uni Eropa. Keberhasilan kubu skeptis terbukti dengan hasil referendum 2016 dimana warga Inggris memilih untuk Brexit atau Britain Exit. ;---The principal issues in this thesis is how the dynamics that occur in the United Kingdom in its membership with the European Union from the beginning to the time of its integration until the referendum of Brexit 2016. The method used is a historical method which heuristic, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. As for the approach being used. interdisciplinary approach by using the concept of international relations and economics, such as geostrategi, geopolitics, regionalisme, neofungsionalisme, and economic integration. As for the techniques used in data collection study the literature by examining the sources of literature relevant to the problems examined. The results of this research show that membership in the European Union backed by the United Kingdom by the United Kingdom's economic conditions continue to decline the post World War II. Then the process of the membership of the United Kingdom that lasted nearly ten years because of the difficulty of adjustment policies of the United Kingdom and the European Union. Moreover, the veto of the French President de Gaulle, who became the United Kingdom's membership of the barriers. Then after becoming members of the European Union, the United Kingdom are inconsistent in several crucial policy in the European Union. As regarding the membership of the United Kingdom towards the eurozone, the social chapter in the Treaty of Maastritcht, then in the face of the European crisis. It forms the character of the United Kingdom which is then related to the Prime Minister and the ruling party (especially the Labour Party and the Conservative Party), the character gave rise to anti-Europe and pro-Europe. The characters certainly have an effect on the referendum at 2016, which is widespread skepticism toward Europe from among the public at large to the Government supporting sceptical (anti-Europe) to exit of United Kingdom from European Union. The success of the sceptical with proven results of referendum 2016 in which British citizens choose to Brexit or Britain Exit.
