Abstract

Skripsi berjudul “Ekologi Sosial: Pemikiran Murray Bookchin Mengenai Relasi Manusia dengan Alam”
menjelaskan mengenai latar belakang Murray Bookchin dalam gerakan revolusioner dan ideologi marxisme dan
anarkisme, titik temu antara teori politik anarkisme dan ekologi yang kemudian melahirkan gagasan ekologi
sosial, gagasan Murray Bookchin mengenai demokrasi munisipal dan munisipalisme libertarian dan kemunculan
gerakan ekologi di Amerika Serikat. Permasalahan utama tersebut kemudian terbagi menjadi empat pertanyaan
penelitian, yaitu: (1) Bagaimana latar belakang kehidupan Murray Bookchin?; (2) Mengapa teori politik
anarkisme dipilih oleh Murray Bookchin dalam mengurai permasalahan ekologi?; (3) Apa yang dimaksud
dengan gagasan munisipalisme libertarian yang diklaim oleh Murray Bookchin telah melampaui teori politik
anarkisme itu sendiri?; (4) Bagaimana dampak pmeikiran Murray Bookchin terhadap gerakan ekologi di
Amerika Serikat? Metode yang digunakan adalah metode historis dengan melakukan empat langkah penelitian,
yaitu heuristik, kritik, interpretasi dan historiografi. Sedangkan untuk pengumpulan data, peneliti melakukan
teknik studi literatur, yaitu mengkaji sumber-sumber yang relevan dengan tema penelitian. Murray Bookchin
adalah seorang teoritikus anarkisme hijau atau eko-anarkisme. Perjalanan revolusioner Murray Bookchin
dimulai sejak ia bersama Neneknya, Zietel serta tergabung dalam Young Communist League membuat dirinya
memahami bagaimana ajaran Marxisme serta perjuangan partai Komunis. Hingga akhirnya, ia mencapai titik
balik untuk memperdalam anarkisme setelah menyaksikan kekejaman rezim Jenderal Franco di Spanyol yang
hampir berhasil dikalahkan oleh perjuangan National Confederation of Labor atau dalam bahasa Spanyol
Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT).----------The mini thesis entitled “Ekologi Sosial: Pemikiran Murray Bookchin Mengenai Relasi Manusia dengan Alam”
explains about Murray Bookchin’s background in the revolutionary movement and marxism and anarchism
ideologies, the meeting point between anarchism and ecology political theories raising the concept of social
ecology, his concept about municipal democracy and libertarian municipalism, and the emergence of ecology
movement in USA. The main issue was then divided into four research questions: (1) How is the life background
of Murray Bookchin?; (2) Why was the political theory of anarchism chosen by Murray Bookchin in elaborating
the ecology issue?; (3) What is the meaning of libertarian municipalism concept?; and (4) How is the impact of
Murray Bookchin’s concept toward the ecology movement? The research method used was historical method by
conducting four steps research, namely heuristic, critic, interpretation, and historiography. Meanwhile for the
data collecting, the researcher used literature study technique by reviewing resources relevant to the research
theme. Murray Bookchin is a green anarchism or eco-anarchism theorist. His revolutionary journey was started
since he stayed with his grandmother Zietel and joined Young Communist League which made him deeply
understand the Marxism theory and the struggle of communist party. At the end, he reached his return point to
deepen anarchism after witnessing the tyranny of General Franco regime in Spain which was nearly defeated by
the National Confederation of Labor struggle, or in Spanish Confereacion Nacional del Trabajo (CNT).
