Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul “Peranan Operasi Fortitude Dalam Membantu Pendaratan
Pasukan Sekutu di Normandia 6 Juni 1944”. Masalah utama yang dikaji dalam skripsi
ini adalah bagaimana peranan Operasi Fortitude dalam membantu pendaratan
pasukan Sekutu di Normandia 6 Juni 1944. Dari masalah tersebut kemudian dibagi
kedalam empat pertanyaan penelitian, yaitu: 1) Bagaimana situasi di Eropa menjelang
invasi pasukan Sekutu ke Normandia pada tahun 1944? 2) Mengapa pihak Sekutu
melaksanakan Operasi Fortitude menjelang invasi tersebut? 3) Bagaimana
pelaksanaan Operasi Fortitude sehingga dapat membantu jalannya invasi pasukan
Sekutu di Normandia? 4) Bagaimana dampak dari Operasi Fortitude baik bagi Nazi
Jerman maupun bagi Sekutu? Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah
metode historis yang menggunakan studi literatur berupa buku, arsip, artikel, serta
karya tulis ilmiah lainnya. Tahapan-tahapan dalam metode historis ini meliputi
heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Pendekatan yang dilakukan
adalah pendekatan interdisipliner yang menggunakan bantuan dari disiplin ilmu-ilmu
sosial. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori konflik. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah
terkait sebuah tindakan yang dilakukan oleh Sekutu untuk membongkar pertahanan
Nazi Jerman yang kokoh menjelang invasi pasukan Sekutu di front Barat yang ingin
membebaskan Eropa dari kekuasaan Nazi Jerman pada Perang Dunia II. Operasi
Fortitude yang melibatkan intelijen Sekutu dilaksanakan untuk mengalihkan
perhatian Nazi Jerman ke Pas de Calais sebelum invasi di Normandia 6 Juni 1944
dilaksanakan. Dengan kokohnya pertahanan Nazi Jerman di Eropa Barat,
pertempuran secara langsung akan mengakibatkan jatuhnya korban jiwa yang sangat
banyak bagi pihak Sekutu. Oleh karena itu, untuk menghidari jatuhnya korban jiwa
yang dapat merugikan, Sekutu melaksanakan Operasi Fortitude untuk mengacaukan
komando pertahanan Nazi Jerman. Sehingga, pasukan Sekutu dapat mendarat di
Normandia dalam jumlah yang banyak tanpa mendapatkan perlawanan yang berarti.----------This undergraduate thesis is titled “The Role of Operation Fortitude In Helping the
Allies Forces Landed in Normandy on June 6
th 1944”. The Main issue in this
undergraduate thesis is how the role of Operation Fortitude in helping the Allies
Forces landed in Normandy on June 6th 1944. Then, the main issue is divided into
four research questions: 1) How the Europe situation near the Allies invasion in
Normandy on 1944? 2) Why the Allies implementing Operation Fortitude near the
invasion? 3) How the execution of Operation Fortitude so can help the Allies
invasion in Normandy? 4) How the impacts of Operation Fortitude for Nazi Germany
and Allies. This research uses the historical method that applying the literature study
such as books, archives, articles, and other scientific papers. The steps of this
historical method is heuristic, criticism of sources, interpretation, and historiography.
The approach of this research uses an interdisciplinary approach that using the social
sciences discipline. The theory of this research uses the social conflict theory. The
background of this research is about the action of Allies to destroy the Nazi
Germany’s fortress near the Allies invasion in West Europe to liberate all Europe
nations from Nazi’s rule in World War II. Operation Fortitude involving intelligence
agents and implemented to distract Nazi Germany in Pas de Calais before Allies
invasion in Normandy on June 6th 1944. With impregnable fortress of Nazi Germany
in West Europe, the direct combat will result many casualties of Allies forces. Based
on it, to avoid many casualties of Allies forces, the Allies implementing Operation
Fortitude to distract the defense command of Nazi Germany. So, the Allies forces
could landing in Normandy with large numbers without getting the significant
counterattack from Nazi Germany’s forces.
