Abstract

Fashion tidak hanya digunakan individu untuk melindungi diri dari cuaca, panas atau dingin. Lebih lanjut, fashion digunakan individu untuk mengungkapkan banyak hal yang berkaitan dengan identitasnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kontruksi makna fashion dalam pembentukan identitas Punk pada anggota komunitas PurnaRoots Bandung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan studi fenomenologi. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan untuk penelitian adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan, studi dokumentasi dan studi literatur. Informan utama dalam penelitian ini yakni anggota komunitas PurnaRoots. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa anggota komunitas PurnaRoots memaknai fashion sebagai simbol kebebasan, ekspresi diri dan pergerakan, perlawanan, dan komunikasi identitas. Pemahaman mengenai nilai-nilai identitas Punk memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap makna yang dikonstruksi oleh anggota komunitas PurnaRoots. Pandangan negatif terhadap kontra budaya Punk memaksa anggota komunitas PurnaRoots lebih berhati-hati dalam bertindak dan tidak berlebihan mengenakan fashion Punk. Menyesuaikan diri, menghargai sesama, dan melakukan hal yang positif seperti kegiatan sosial dilakukan anggota komunitas PurnaRoots untuk terus menjaga eksistensi Punk. Hal tersebut dipengaruhi peran, konsumsi informasi dan lingkungan sangat mempengaruhi sikap, tidakan dan perilaku anggota komunitas PurnaRoots dari waktu ke waktu. ;---Fashion aren’t only used by individuals to protect themselves from the weather, sunlight, or cold. Furthermore, individuals use fashion to express many things that relate to their identities. This research is aimed to find out how the construction of the meaning of fashion in forming of identity towards the members of PurnaRoots community in Bandung. This research uses qualitative approach with phenomenology study. The method for data collecting that is used in this research is profound interview, participant obsevation, documentary study, and literature study. The main informant for this research is the member of PurnaRoots community. The result of this research shows that fashion, for the member of PurnaRoots community, is the symbol of freedom, expression of self and movement, resistance, and communication of identity. The concept about the values of Punk has some significant effect towards the constructed meanings by the members of PurnaRoots community. The negative judgment about Punk forces the members of PurnaRoots community to be more cautious to act and not be extravagant in wearing Punk fashion. The members of PurnaRoots adapt, respect each other, and do positive things such as participating in social activities in order to keep the existence of Punk. It is affected by role, consumption of information, and environment very affect demeanor, action, and behavior of the members of PurnaRoots community by times.
