Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pemahaman siswa tentang kalimat efektif dan kurangnya pengetahuan tentang unsur-unsur yang membangun sebuah kalimat sehingga banyak kalimat yang tidak efektif. Keefektifan kalimat berkaitan erat dengan kompetensi sintaksis. Keefektifan kalimat dilihat dari unsur-unsur kalimat tersebut. Unsur-unsur sintaksis sebagai salah satu penyebab keefektifan sebuah kalimat menjadi hal yang penting untuk diperhatikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan seberapa besar pengaruh kompetensi sintaksis dan kemampuan menulis kalimat efektif pada karangan eksposisi siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 19 Bandung. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan korelasional. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 19 Bandung 2012-2013 (290 orang). Data diperoleh menggunakan tes objektif dan tes tulis. Analisis data dideskripsikan dan diproses dengan menggunakan korelasi berskala 10. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah (1) nilai rata-rata kompetensi sintaksis yang ditulis siswa berada pada kualifikasi kurang (48,07); (2) nilai rata-rata menulis kalimat efektif dalam karangan eksposisi yang diperoleh siswa berada pada kualifikasi cukup (63,68); (3) Pengaruh penguasaan kompetensi sintaksis terhadap kemampuan menulis kalimat efektif pada karangan eksposisi siswa kelas XI SMAN 19 Bandung dengan derajat kebebasan (dk) n-2 dan taraf signifikansi 5% sebesar 13,76 %. Kata kunci: eksposisi; efektif; kalimat; kompetensi; sintaksis This research is motivated by the lack of students' understanding about the effective sentences and the lack of knowledge about the elements that construct a sentence so many sentences are not effective . The Effectiveness of sentence is closely related with syntactic competence . The effectiveness of the sentence seen from the sentence elements . Syntactic elements as one of the causes of the effectiveness of sentence becomes important thing tobe noticed . The purpose of this study is describing how much influence syntactic competence and the ability to write the effective sentence to the exposition essay in eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 19 Bandung . The method used in this study was a quantitative descriptive by correlational approach . The subjects of this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 19 Bandung 2012-2013 ( 290 people ) . Data obtained using an objective test and a written test . Analysis of the data described and processed by using the correlation scale of 10 . The results of this study were ( 1 ) the average value of the written syntactic competence students are at less qualification ( 48.07 ) , (2 ) the average value of the essay writing effective sentences exposition earned enough qualifying students are at ( 63 , 68 ) , (3 ) Effect of syntactic competence mastery of the ability to write the effective sentences on exposition essay to eleventh grade students of SMAN 19 Bandung with degrees of freedom ( df ) n - 2 and 5% significance level of 13.76 % .
