Abstract
The constitution states the unification of East Timor into the Republic of Indonesia and becomes the 27th province of the Republic of Indonesia. But the integration with Indonesia didn’t go smoothly and there were many civil wars in the area, until finally on 20 May 2002 East Timor officially became its own country and separated from Indonesia and changed its name to Timor Leste. During 1990 to 2002 many of East Timorese migrated to the Republic of Indonesia to become Indonesian citizens. This case also happened in Sumedang, West Java. In the middle of 1999 they came to the area and adapt with local community of that area. This research conducted through qualitative approach with descriptive study using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interview and documentation study. The findings of this research is East Timorese immigrant claimed that they didn’t find any difficulties in adapting with their new environment, because before they came to the area they had been fully informed about the state of the area and the local community. They began to get closer with the local society by held a religious event, named tabligh akbar constantly once in every months of the first year of their immigration, and the society received their existence very well. But there was one thing that the immigrants have not understand perfectly, and it was the language (Sundanese language). That can be proved or can be seen when they communicate with other people they always speak Indonesian, but it is not a big deal to adapt in the community, because in fact many of the local community married to East Timorese Immigrants.
