Abstract

Kampus UPI termasuk salah satu perguruan tinggi negeri dari dua perguruan tinggi negeri di Jawa Barat yang masuk dalam daftar 10 PTN paling diminati. Akibatnya, hampir setiap tahun jumlah warga kampus UPI selalu meningkat, khususnya mahasiswa. Tercatat pada tahun 2012 jumlah mahasiswa UPI adalah 3.165 orang dan jumlah mahasiswa UPI pada tahun 2016 mengalami hampir 2 kali peningkatan dari tahun 2012 yakni berjumlah 6.992 orang. Adanya kenaikan jumlah warga kampus mempengaruhi jumlah dan volume sampah yang masuk ke TPA kampus. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah di Kampus UPI, baik dari bentuk buah pikiran, harta benda, tenaga, keterampilan, dan sosial. Penelitian ini termasuk ke dalam pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara stratified random sampling, berjumlah 407 orang responden yaitu 363 mahasiswa, 15 dosen, dan 29 karyawan. Variabel dalam penelitian ini merupakan variabel tunggal yaitu partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi literatur, studi dokumentasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan skala likert untuk mengukur partisipasi, lalu diinterpretasikan dengan menggunakan teknik persentase. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh yaitu: 1). Partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah di Kampus UPI dalam bentuk buah pikiran untuk karakteristik mahasiswa memiliki hasil rendah, dosen memiliki hasil sedang, sedangkan karyawan memiliki hasil sedang, 2). Partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah di Kampus UPI dalam bentuk harta benda untuk karakteristik mahasiswa memiliki hasil rendah, dosen memiliki hasil sedang, sedangkan karyawan memiliki hasil sedang, 3). Partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah di Kampus UPI dalam bentuk tenaga untuk karakteristik mahasiswa memiliki hasil tinggi, dosen memiliki hasil tinggi, sedangkan karyawan memiliki hasil tinggi, 4) Partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah di Kampus UPI dalam bentuk keterampilan untuk karakteristik mahasiswa memiliki hasil sedang, dosen memiliki hasil sedang, sedangkan karyawan memiliki hasil sedang, serta 5). Partisipasi warga kampus dalam pengelolaan sampah di Kampus UPI dalam bentuk sosial untuk karakteristik mahasiswa memiliki hasil sedang, dosen memiliki hasil sedang, sedangkan karyawan memiliki hasil sedang. ---------- Indonesia University of Education is one of the two state universities in West Java which has become one of 10 favorite state universities in Indonesia. Therefore, the number of people who join the university increases every year, especially the students. In 2012, Indonesia University of Education has 3.165 students and those numbers have doubled in 2016 to 6.992 students. The increasing number of students can affect the volume of garbage piled in the campus’ garbage dump. Thus, this research aims to analyze the participation of Indonesia University of Education’s community in managing trash in the campus whether in the form of ideas, objects/things, energy, skills, and social. The research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive method as its tool. Samples are collected by taking stratified random sampling in which 407 respondents are students for about 363 persons, lecturers for about 15 people, and employees for about 29 persons. The variable used in this research is a single variable which is the participation of the people in managing garbage. After that, the data collection uses certain techniques such as literary study, documentation, questionnaire, and interview. Then, the data is analyzed by using Likert scale to measure the participation and the result is interpreted using percentage technique. Finally, the results of this research are: 1) The participation of the people in managing the campus’ garbage in the form of ideas is low for the students and medium for both lecturers and employees, 2) The participation of the people in managing the campus’ garbage in the form of objects/things is low for the students and medium for both lecturers and employees, 3) The participation of the people in managing the campus’ garbage in the form of energy is high for the students, lecturers, and employees, 4) The participation of the people in managing the campus’ garbage in the form of skills is medium for the students, lecturers, and employees, and 5) The participation of the people in managing the campus’ garbage in the form of social is medium for the students, lecturers, and employees.
