Abstract

Melihat kondisi kerawanan bencana di Indonesia, sudah seharusnya peserta didik memiliki pengetahuan dan pemahaman mengenai bencana untuk meminimalisir kerusakan dan korban jiwa. Namun kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan, guru cenderung menggunakan pendekatan ekspository yang belum mampu meningkatkan pemahaman mitigasi bencana peserta didik. Diperlukan suatu solusi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana peserta didik. Salah satu desain pembelajaran yang berpotensi memungkinkan peserta didik untuk meningkatan pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana adalah Model ASSURE (Analyze Learners, State Standard and Objectives, Select Methods, Media and Materials, Utilize Technology Media and Materials, Require Learners Participation, Evaluate and Revise). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model ASSURE terhadap pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana peserta didik kelas XI IPS di SMA Negeri 1 Dondo dan MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, Kabupaten Tolitoli. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan pola nonequivalent groups pretest-posttest. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes dan observasi. Analisis data menggunakan statistik berupa uji T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model ASSURE di SMA Negeri 1 Dondo, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai α=0,05>0,000; (2) Terdapat perbedaan hasil pretest dan posttest pemahaman mitigasi bencana pada kelas kontrol tanpa perlakuan model ASSURE di SMA Negeri 1 Dondo, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai α=0,05>0,000; (3) Terdapat perbedaan hasil pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana pada pengukuran akhir kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol di SMA Negeri 1 Dondo, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai α=0,05>0,018 (pertemuan pertama) dan α=0,05>0,003 (pertemuan kedua); (4) Terdapat perbedaan pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana peserta didik sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model ASSURE di MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai α=0,05>0,000; (5) Terdapat perbedaan hasil pretest dan posttest pemahaman mitigasi bencana pada kelas kontrol tanpa perlakuan model ASSURE di MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai α=0,05>0,000; (6) Terdapat perbedaan hasil pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencana pada pengukuran akhir kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol di MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, yang dibuktikan dengan nilai α=0,05>0,004. Dengan demikian, penerapan model ASSURE berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep mitigasi bencan peserta didik. ---------- Seeing the condition of disaster vulnerability in Indonesia, students should have knowledge about disaster to minimize damage and casualties. The fact shows that teachers tend to use an exposure approach which has not been able to increase students' understanding of disaster mitigation. A solution is required to solve it. One model of learning design which can enhance understanding of disaster mitigation concept is learning design of ASSURE (Analyze Learners, State Standard and Objectives, Select Methods, Media and Materials, Utilize Technology Media and Materials, Require Learners Participation, Evaluate and Revise) Model. This study was aimed to find out the influence of ASSURE model application on understanding of disaster mitigation concept among students of class XI IPS in SMAN 1 Dondo and MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, Tolitoli Regency. This study used experimental method with nonequivalent group pretest-posttest pattern. Independent variable of this study is ASSURE model and dependent variable is students’ understanding of concept. Data collection technique was done by test and observation. Data analysis used statistic in the form of T test. The result of study showed that (1) There was difference in pretest and posttest result for understanding of disaster mitigation concept in experimental class by using ASSURE model in SMAN 1 Dondo, which was proved by value of α = 0.05>0.000; (2) There was difference in pretest and posttest result for understanding of disaster mitigation concept in control class without treatment of ASSURE Model in SMAN 1 Dondo, which was proved by value of α=0.05>0.000; (3) There was result difference in understanding of disaster mitigation concept in final measurement of experiment class and control class in SMAN 1 Dondo, which was proved by value of α=0.05>0.000 (first session) and α=0.05>0.003 (second session); (4) There was difference in pretest and posttest result for understanding of disaster mitigation concept in experimental class by using ASSURE model in MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, which was proved by value of α=0.05>0.000; (5) There was difference in pretest and posttest result of understanding disaster mitigation in control class treatment of ASSURE model in MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, which was proved by value of α=0,05>0.000; (6) There was result difference in understanding of disaster mitigation concept in final measurement of experiment class and control class in MA Al-Ikhlas Tinabogan, which was proved by value of α=0.05>0.000. Therefore, the application of ASSURE model influences on students’ understanding of disaster mitigation concept.
