Abstract

Adanya kecenderungan bahwa siswa sulit memahami substansi genetik yang memuat konsep-konsep abstrak dan kompleks, serta penting sebagai pengetahuan dasar untuk memahami cabang ilmu biologi lainnya. Hal tersebut mendorong pentingnya menganalisis konsepsi awal siswa dan perubahan konseptual yang terjadi setelah pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis perubahan konseptual siswa SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas) melalui peta konsep pada bahan ajar substansi genetik. Metode yang digunakan adalah quasi-experiment dengan desain nonequivalent control group. Penelitian melibatkan 59 siswa SMA kelas XII yang terdiri dari 29 siswa kelas kontrol dan 30 siswa kelas eksperimen. Pembelajaran di kedua kelas menggunakan pendekatan konseptual. Kelas kontrol hanya berupa ceramah tanpa ada tambahan media ajar seperti pada kelas eksperimen yang ditambahkan media ajar berupa video, teks wacana, serta lembar kerja peta konsep. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tugas peta konsep dan mengerjakan tes soal uraian. Analisis perubahan konseptual dilakukan pada peta konsep awaldan akhir. Setiap siswa yang mengalami perubahan konseptual ke arah positif (paham konsep) mendapatkan skor. Hasil pengujian secara statistik menunjukkan tidak adanya perbedaan perubahan konseptual yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol (p: 0,003 <α: 0,05). Frekuensi perubahan konseptual siswa di kelas kontrol yang paham konsep sebesar 29%, miskonsepsi 6%, dan tidak tahu konsep 65%, sedangkan paham konsep pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 40%, miskonsepsi 5%, dan tidak tahu konsep 55%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan penggunaan peta konsep kurang mendorong perubahan konseptual pada siswa. Kata kunci: perubahan konseptual, peta konsep, substansi genetik, There is a tendency that student who found it difficult to understand the genetic substance that contains abstract and complex concepts, and is important as a basic knowledge to understand other branches of biological science.It encouraged the importance of analyzed early conceptions of students and conceptual changes that occur after learning. The aim of this study is to analyze conceptual change in senior high school students through concept map in the topic of genetic substance. The method used is quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design. This study involved 59 students of Senior High School in class XII which consist of 29 students as control class and 30 students as experiment class. Learning in both classes used a conceptual approach.The control class was only a lecture without any additional teaching media such as in the experimental class which is added with video media, discourse text, and concept map worksheet.The instrument used is the concept map task and test of essay.Conceptual change analyzed by a before and after concept map.Any student who experienced conceptual change in a positive direction (understands the concept) will get a score.The test results showed not a difference statistically significant conceptual change between class experiment and control (p: 0.003 <α: 0.05). The frequency conceptual change in control class who understand the concept is 29%, misconception is 6%, and do not know the concept is 65%, whereas understanding the concept is experiment class is 40%, misconception is 5%, and do not know the concept is 55%.
