Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh sedikitnya pembahasan tentang peranan Ali
Sastroamidjojo dalam bidang politik di
Indonesia secara mendetail, baik itu
berupa penelitian maupun pembahasan pada buku-buku bahan ajar di sekolah.
Alasan penulis melaksanakan penelitian ini dikarenakan ketertarikan penulis
terhadap kiprah Ali Sastroamidjojo di bidang politik setelah membaca
otobiografinya dan aktif menghadiri diskusi tentang peranan Ali Sastroamidjojo di
Gedung Merdeka Bandung. Untuk memfokuskan penelitian, penulis merumuskan
tiga pertanyaan, yaitu (1). Bagaimana pemikiran politik Ali Sastroamidjojo?, (2).
Bagaimana peranan
Ali Sastroamidjojo dalam bidang politik di Indonesia tahun
1928-1966?, (3). Bagaimana pengaruh Ali Sastroamidjojo dalam bidang politik di
Indonesia tahun 1928-1966?. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu
metode
historis,
yangmeliputi
heuristik
(pengumpulan sumber),
kritik sumber,
interpretasi, dan
historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pemikiran
politik Ali Sastroamidjojo didasari oleh semangat nasionalisme yang percaya diri
dengan budaya sendiri tanpa merasa rendah diri terhadap budaya
asing. Sebagai
salah satu tokoh nasional yang berpendidikan Barat tidak membuat Ali
Sastroamidjojo lupa akan tanah airnya. Setelah memutuskan untuk kembali ke
Indonesia tahun 1928, Ali Sastroamidjojo langsung berperan penting di dalam
perjuangan bangsa In
donesia baik pada masa pergerakan maupun pasca
kemerdekaan nasional. Jabatan-jabatan penting seperti Menteri Pengajaran,
Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Perdana Menteri, sampai dengan Ketua Umum PNI
pernah diamanahkan kepada Ali Sastroamidjojo. Pengaruh yang di
berikan Ali
Sastroamidjojo merupakan buah karya daripada intelektualitas yang dibarengi
dengan rasa cinta akan tanah air.
Oleh karena itu,
masyarakat, pelaku pendidikan,
dan pemerintah harus aktif mengkaji pengalaman tokoh-tokoh nasional seperti Ali
Sastroamidjojo. Sehingga kesadaran akan nasionalisme pada masa kini akan
tumbuh di dalam sanubari bangsa Indonesia

This research is motivated by the lack of discussion about the role of Ali
Sastroamidjojo in the field of politics in Indonesia in detail, whether in the form
of research and discussion on textbooks in school. The reason the authors carry
out this research due to the author's interest in the work of Ali Sastroamidjojo in
the political field after reading his autobiography and actively attended a
discussion on the role
of Ali Sastroamidjojo at
Merdeka
Building
Bandung. To
focus the research, the author formulates three questions, namely (1). What is the
political thought of Ali Sastroamidjojo?,
(2). What is the role of Ali
Sastroamidjojo in poli
tics Indonesia in 1928-1966?, (3). What is the influence of Ali Sastroamidjojo in politics
Indonesia in 1928-1966?. The method used in
research is historical method, including heuristic (source collection), source critic,
interpretation, and historiography. The results of this study show that Ali
Sastroamidjojo's political thinking is based on a spirit of confident nationalism
with its own culture without feeling inferior to foreign cultures. As one of the
Western-educated national figures did not make Ali Sastroamidjojo forget his
homeland. After deciding to return to Indonesia in 1928, Ali Sastroamidjojo
directly played an important role in the struggle of the Indonesian nation both
during the movement and post-national independence. Important positions such as
the Minister of Teaching, Education and Culture, the Prime Minister, until the
Chairman of the PNI had been mandated to Ali Sastroamidjojo. The influence
given by Ali Sastroamidjojo is the work of intellectuality coupled with the love of
the homeland. Therefore, the community, education actors and the government
must actively study the experiences of national figures such as Ali Sastroamidjojo.
So that the awareness of nationalism in the present will
grow in the heart of the
Indonesian nation.
