Abstract

Struktur kognitif yang dimiliki siswa berbeda-beda, namun kebanyakan guru belum memahami perbedaan tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis struktur kognitif siswa meliputi aspek isi, sistem, dan gaya kognitif menggunakan peta konsep. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan analisis dekriptif dan desain penelitian studi kasus, pada 35 siswa di salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Bandung. Struktur kognitif siswa diungkap menggunakan peta konsep disertai 6 pertanyaan terbuka terkait dengan konsep cahaya. Struktur kognitif siswa dianalisis berdasarkan skor total yang diperoleh tiap siswa pada setiap komponen dalam aspek sistem dan gaya kognitif. Ditemukan tiga kategori kognitif siswa pada aspek isi, yaitu sedang, baik, dan baik sekali dan enam kategori struktur kognitif siswa pada pasangan aspek sistem dan gaya kognitif yaitu Verbal-Rasional, Verbal-Empiris, Verbal-Metaforis, Penalaran-Rasional, Penalaran-Empiris, dan Penalaran-Metaforis. Kata kunci: Struktur kognitif, sistem kognitif, gaya kognitif, peta konsep, siswa SMA ABSTRACT The students' cognitive structure varies, but most teachers do not understand the difference. The purpose of this study is to analyze the cognitive structure of students covering aspects of content, system, and cognitive style using concept maps. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive analysis and case study research design, at 35 students in one of State Senior High School in Bandung. The cognitive structure of students is revealed using concept maps with 6 open questions related to the optics concept. The cognitive structure of the students is analyzed based on the total score obtained by each student on each component in the system aspect and cognitive style. Three categories of cognitive students were found in the content aspect, which were moderate, good, and excellent and six categories of students' cognitive structure on the system and cognitive styles of Verbal-Rational, Verbal-Empirical, Verbal-Metaphorical, Rational-Reasoning, Empirical-Reasoning, And Reasoning-Metaphorical.
