Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya dan masih belum optimalnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence antara siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan Ang’s Framework for Mathematical Modelling Instruction (AFFMMI) dan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik ditinjau secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan kategori KAM (tinggi, sedang dan rendah). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kelompok kontrol pretest-postest. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP di salah satu SMP di Bandung. Kelas eksperimen terdiri dari 36 siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan Ang’s Framework for Mathematical Modelling Instruction dan kelas kontrol terdiri dari 37 siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan pendekatan saintifik. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, angket skala sikap dan lembar observasi. Analisis data kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis menggunakan uji perbedaan rerata dua kelompok yang independen. . Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : a) terdapat perbedaan pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara kedua kelas; b) ditinjau dari KAM (tinggi, sedang dan rendah), terdapat perbedaan pencapaian dan peningkatan KAM tinggi dan sedang, namun pada KAM rendah tidak terdapat perbedaan; c) tidak terdapat perbedaan self confidence siswa antara kedua kelas, baik secara keseluruhan maunpun berdasarkan kategori KAM (tinggi, sedang dan rendah). ------------ This research is motivated by problems and still not optimal mathematical ability and self confidence of students. This research is useful to know whether there is a difference between mathematical learning ability and self-confidence between students who gain learning with Ang's Framework for Mathematical Modeling Instruction (AFFMMI) and students who gain learning by scientific approach are reviewed in whole or by category of KAM (high, medium and low). The method used in this research is quasy experiment with pretest posttest control group design . The population of this research is junior high school student in one of junior high school in Bandung. The experimental class consisted of 36 students who gained learning with Ang Framework for Mathematical Modeling Instruction and control class consisted of 37 students who received learning by scientific approach. Instruments used are mathematical problem solving test, attitude scale questionnaire and observation sheet. Data analysis using the test difference of the mean of two independent groups. . The results showed: a) there were differences in mathematical ability between the two classes; b) in terms of KAM (high, medium and low), there are differences and increases in high and medium KAM, but in low KAM there is no difference; c) there is no difference in self-confidence between the two classes, either overall under the category of KAM (high, medium and low).
