Abstract
Skripsi ini berjudul “Peristiwa Tanjung Priok Dalam Pandangan Surat Kabar Kompas dan Berita Yudha 1984-1987”. Masalah utama yang dikaji dalam skripsi ini adalah “Bagaimana surat kabar Kompas dan Berita Yudha memandang Peristiwa Tanjung Priok tahun 1984-1997?”. Masalah utama tersebut terbagi kedalam beberapa pertanyaan penelitian yaitu : (1). Bagaimana Peristiwa Tanjung Priok Terjadi ? (2). Bagaimana pandangan pemberitaan (News) Peristiwa Tanjung Priok dalam surat kabar Kompas dan Berita Yudha ? (3). Bagaimana pandangan surat kabar Kompas dan Berita Yudha dilihat dari tajuk rencana, catatan pojok dan karikatur dalam menyikapi Peristiwa Tanjung Priok 1984-1987 ? Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Metode Historis, yaitu : Heuristik, Kritik, dan Historiografi. Teknik literatur merupakan teknik penelitian yang digunakan dengan menggunakan sumber surat kabar, serta buku yang relevan dengan penelitian. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan inter-disipliner dengan menempatkan ilmu sejarah sebagai ilmu utama yang dibantu dengan ilmu sosial lainnya. Penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan hasil bahwa Surat Kabar Kompas dan Berita Yudha memiliki ciri yang berbeda dalam menyampaikan pandangannya. Kompas lebih menitikberatkan pada kebebasan pers yang seharusnya dimiliki oleh media massa, hal tersebut seakan dimanfaatkan Kompas dengan terjadinya Peristiwa Tanjung Priok yang disampaikan melalui berbagai tajuknya. Sedangkan Berita Yudha menitikberatkan kepada masyarakat Indonesia untuk waspada dengan terjadinya peristiwa Tanjung Priok ini, karena bahaya ekstrem kanan dan kiri dirasa sudah menggeliat kembali dengan terjadinya kekacauan keamanan di Ibukota. Sasaran menyerang wilayah paling sensitif yakni wilayah SARA.;---The research entitled “Kompas and Berita Yudha point of view to Tanjung Priok incident in 1984-1987”. This study was aimed to answer the following questions: (1) How did Tanjung Priok incident occur? (2) How was the view of news Tanjung Priok incident in Kompas and Berita Yudha newspaper ? (3) How he views of Kompas and Berita Yudha newspapers be seen from the editorial, corner notes and caricatures in addressing the Tanjung Priok Events 1984-1987? To answer these questions, historical method was employed using heuristic, critic, and historiography. Research technic which is used in this paper is literature study which is the files of Kompas newspaper and Berita Yudha and the relevant books. This paper uses interdisciplinary approach, it places history as the main science and supported by another social sciences. The research showed some results. Kompas and Berita Yudha had different approaches in giving their own point of view. From the analyzed headers and caricatures, Kompas emphasized more to the press freedom. According to Kompas, the lack of communication between the government and its people was seen as the cause which triggered the incident. On the contrary, Berita Yudha emphasized to Indonesian people to be watchful by the incident of Tanjung Priok because the danger of extreme right and extreme left which were felt had started to grow again after the incident. The target of the extremists was the people who did not know what actually had happened and attacked the “Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Intergroup” area (Suku, Agama, Ras, dan Antargolongan), so the people would be easily instigated. Religion was used as a weapon to spur radical actions. Kompas and Berita Yudha had the same idea which was to make Indonesia better, albeit using different approaches and different perspectives.
